Navigation issue/question

I have a 2010 sv w/tech and just recently changed my Nav view to a birdsview/3D and noticed that when i have it set to lowest detail, my arrow does not track straight, rather bobs from left to right over the road I am on; once i back up on the detail, it is not noticeable. I have had issues with tire vibrations that are still not 100% resolved, so didnt know if there was a connection--any one noticed this before as normal for that setting???

Are there nearby roads running parallel to the roads you are on or does this happen all the time at that zoom setting? It is a little choppy because it's based on GPS readings. I would suggest you go through the menus and find your GPS satellite screen and see what kind of signal you are getting. Maybe you are getting a poor signal in your location.

Where are you located? Near mountains or anything?

exl ent v6 is on the right track. This has absolutely nothing to do with the tire vibrations. When on the closest bird's eye view, slight adjustments by the GPS system based on the latest satellite returns are greatly magnified.

The jumps to the side are especially pronounced when in parking lots driveway, or areas where there there are other roads/driveways/etc close by. When in a parking lot driving parallel to a nearby road, this thing understandable gets confused, and sometimes jumps back and forth between the road and the parking lot driveway. This is fairly normal when in maximum magnification.

Along with the above suggestions, you can also try to "calibrate" the cars position from the Navigation Settings - I actually just had to do that last night as I've noticed the Nav was suddenly "off" in telling me to turn when I was still a block away.

thanks for the suggestions; this is happening on city roads, but also on freeways , with no nearby off/on ramps and i live in florida, so hills/mountains are non-existent. I will try to calibrate and see if any settings remedy this. I have been in a friends TL and their similar view setting only happens in areas with multiple nearby roads, which the nissan manual does indicate as posing problems. I was not sure about the tire/vibration connection, so though i would ask....thanks

I think this is the worst OEM NAVI I have ever had. None of the destinations are in it i need and they are not new roads or such.It also takes a long time to think when a route is added. Even if i use the voice commands it sucks moose ****.The crashes are still the same after the update.I just use my google device for all navi needs. The OEM bluetooth sucks for calls but is very good for audio streaming of any kind .The back up camera is also very nice.

Phantom Touch Screen

I have also had problems with my navigation in my 2010 Maixma. I had it into the dealership and they had to order me a replacement unit. After 2 weeks and me calling the dealership they finally got it in. They replaced the unit but I was still having the same problem. I took it back to them and explained the problem again. They stated that they just got a factory bulletin and that there is issues with the spacing of the nav system and that they housing can touch the screen and make the pointer move. I picked up the car... and as soon as I turned out of the parking lot... the same issue. I turned around and took it right back. They said they fixed it and the service manager took a 4 mile ride with me and no problems. Later that night I took a 2.5 hour trip and once again... the same problem with the screen. I do not know if anyone else is having this problem or if it is just happening on my vehicle. It is like someone is presses one of the arrow key in the dial or the screen just sits there until you hit the back button.

I second that. Make sure there is no previous destination going. I have had it happen to me once or twice when I first got the car. Its easy to forget to remember to hit delete destination after doing a route. If you don't it screws the whole thing up and if the car is in motion its a pain in the butt to change since some of the features get locked out.

If you continue to have problems, either bring it back to the stealership or call Nissan Consumer Affairs and ask to speak to a product specialist. They might be able to help you or call and speak to the stealer and instruct them on how to help you with this nav issue. Best of luck to ya!

I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues. Sounds like you need to have the dealership look at everything because you should not be having these problems. First off Nissan/Infiniti makes some of the best navigation units. Many automotive review companies agree. Try going from the Nissan to say...a Honda! (In fact it's one of the main reasons I didn't buy an Acura)
I am not sure why you do not have all the destinations you need or roads. Where I currently live all the roads and destinations exist and are accurate when the nav says "you have arrived"

When I went to Florida last month, my car had almost all of the NEW roads (new subdivisions) The roads they didn't have were small roads anyways (i.e. gravel - may not even be suitable for mapping)

As far as bluetooth streaming or bluetooth calls I used to have issues with it connecting and staying connected to my new Android phone(s) but since the update everything works great. Streaming is a little buggy for me but thats because I have multiple devices with bluetooth all in my car at once so I think I confuse it, but the calls are beautiful.

Agreed..My Nav has been great.. I too came from an Accord nav which I thought was nice until I saw the birds eye view on the Nissan. I do think the Honda voice command is farther along since it integrates the heat and the radio controls too ..but then again in reality ,I seldom used the voice command features .

Must be highly dependant on where you live. I live in the suburbs of Memphis and i tried a friend's house that's been there for over 5 years now and it wasn't in the nav.

I live in Northern Il and been having Nav problems for the last 3 months. Dealer reset the default location and its fine for about a half day. Then the arrow tends to be parallel to the road I am on by a half inch, then it slowly veers out to the middle of nowhere.

The Audio commands are ok, havent had other units so I have nothing to compare but quite frankly, my lil garmin nuvi is more accurate

I use my nuvi quite a bit more than the nissan's. the garmin has up to date maps which i get thru the lifetime maps, and it dont cost me 200 usd, i dont know if i will ever get the nissan updated, I wish nissan would do something like garmin with the maps,

I got used to the Nav over time...was spoiled by my phones Google Navigation so....but eventually it got okay when I figured out you could search destinations by name and didn't have to browse their lists. Never had an issue with it crashing or taking forever. Could be previous destinations as others have said, I always manually cancel my route right before I get there usually so haven't run into that.
