Yes. All that, plus many folks carry their kids in back, and it is quite annoying to be maneuvering at speed in heavy traffic and suddenly have the interior calm and quiet shattered by Janet Joplin screeching in your ears at 200 decibles.

And the HVAC controls were misleading in that they were not controlling the pack seat area, per se; they were doing nothing more than overriding the right front passenger's settings. Not good. Especially if wifey is sitting in the right front.

Yea, if they wanted to make the hvac contros proper, they should've created an adjustable setting for the rear passengers. Btw, I hear you can actually lock the controls, from the drivers seat. Is that true?

Yup. Next to the rear view mirror controls.

So are the rear seat controls deleted from all 2011 or just the sport?

I don't think the Sport ever had them. Only the Premium Package.

Hey, first post here. Thanks for answering my questions on this thread. After reading, I think some may be confused about perforated leather. The stitching doesn't define it as perforated, it's the holes. I have tan/black interior and I'm glad they didn't put red stitching in it. That would be ugly.

I had to educate my dealer. I was originally told it was premium with sport and tech package. After reading this, I knew they were wrong. That along with the fact I was told it was RWD got me a good discount.

I feel sorry for buyers who don't use forums. It makes me want to sell cars...lol.

Anyways, thanks for all the great info. I chose the SV premium over the sport because I dislike chrome and aftermarket suspension upgrades are always better and usually MUCH cheaper than stock upgrades.

agreed. 18s make the max look so much more bland. it's crazy how much 1" can make a night and day difference.

At the end of the day, it's your money. Test drive both and decide. Either way, you'll love it!

The 2011 Maxima discontinued the rear controls as they found more people found them useless with children and most owners deactivated the controls to prevent their rear passengers from dictating the settings established by the driver/front passengers. Also, my Maxima has all the features of the Sport Package minus 19 inch wheels, but it does have the stiffer suspension. So, go figure??

Does your backseat come down or no? That's one obvious way to tell if is a sport package that sucks if it is and you have 18's and not the 19,s

Did you guys ever consider asking the dealer to run the build sheet based on the vehicle VIN number? I would never buy a used car without going through this exercise.

Actually, the rear seat folds down ONLY on the 'S' and 'SV' models that do NOT have EITHER the Sport or Premium packages. Both the Sport and Premium packages include the heavily strengthened body braces between the rear seat and the trunk, resulting in a small middle opening just big enough for skis and ski poles, and no rear seat folding.

Yes, the car stays flatter, and body twist is minimized by those strong braces. It gives a higher performance car with the Sport package, and the Premium package double-panel roof REQUIRED stronger bracing. But I do miss the easy access between the rear seat and the trunk.

Probably cause to many people like myself who have owned the car for several years and have never put the rear windows down

Joey D was referring to the rear seat AC/audio controls mentioned by mrodenberg0124.

But I think the reason for deletion was probably the same - the bang for the buck was just not there. The rear seat AC/audio controls were not actually controlling anything in the rear seat, but simply overriding whatever settings the right front passenger was using.

As to the rear windows, because of the shape of the rear doors, the rear windows do not go completely down anyway. Several inches will always be sticking up above the sill.

I am sort of the 'lone ranger' here in that I use the auto up and down rear window controls very frequently during the warmer half of the year. After my car has been parked in the relentlessly broiling south Georgia sun for hours, the first thing I do when arriving at the car is to lower all four windows all the way to get the inside temp down from around 135 degrees to around 115 degrees, then close up all windows and turn on the AC.

I will actually miss the auto up and down when I buy my 8th gen in around 20 months.
