how many miles u get on fill up ? when the nozzle clicks
edmunds and car sites are saying 375 miles, is this accurate ?
I just filled up to click and it stopped at around 16.5 gallons, 56 dollars.
Wow if I can get 375 miles on 16.5 gallons then I am happy!!

Maxima has a 20 Gallon tank. Did you fill up at empty? If I go to the line my car will take 19 Gallons so I got 1 more gallon after the line.
I get on average 19 mpg X 20 gallons = 380 miles. So sound about right. Now, on the highway I've gotten it to push 29mpg going 65mph on a flat road (no incline or decline).
On a normal road trip it'd probably average about 25mpg X 20 gallons = 580 miles. I have yet to take a road trip with it. Don't know if I'm looking forward to it with the constant pull to the right, still not fixed.

My normal driving, living 2 miles from school, I get 13-17mpg usually the higher side, my range/DTE is usually 330 with this short driving.
My weekend driving I get 19-20
My drive back to NY from GA, started out averaging 26mpg, some traffic, but stayed between 60-70, the rest of the drive, through the night my speed averaged 80mph with 90mph passes and I got 23-24mph, the last leg of my trip with going between 60 & 90 my mpg was 22
So as you can see the car is fuel efficient, all depends on how you drive, my range/DTE on the long drive went up to 445, can't get passed 450, my 06 the range went up to 525, with I could see that on my 09

do you find your manual calculations match up with the Nissan computer? just curious if anyone has done this type of comparison to see how accurate the computer is in gauging the MPG.

BBmaxi - It is sort of nice to have an idea about how many miles we can get on a tank under various conditions and driving situations, and I sometimes look at that.
But keep in mind that the only truly accurate way to measure fuel efficiency is by dividing the miles driven by the gallons used. I would even say this needs to be done over a multiple fillup span in order to make for better accuracy.
Also remember that the nozzle cutoff is slightly different on every gas pump, even different between the three nozzles at one of those pumps that has a separate nozzle for each octane. Also, any slant or tilt of the pavement where the car sits during refueling means the gas tank will accept more or less gas than it would on completely level ground before the gas fills the refueling tube and the nozzle cuts off the flow.
And remember that the 'fuel low' light on these Maximas varies from car to car. Some come on after only 14 gallons have been used, while others come on after 16 or 17 gallons have been used.
There are other factors that can affect how much fuel you can put in your tank at fillup, but by simply dividing miles traveled by gallons used, you have the straight poop.

its a mix between highway and regualar road.. i travel 15miles on way on the highway to work and i set my cruise at 70-75 and on the regular road i do like 40-50 with little stop and start. i dont really put my foot all the way into the pedal to save gas.
when i did my calculations when i fill up it doesnt match up with the cars compute DTE. The DTE is always low by like 30miles.
my fuel light comes on around 18gallons.. when it came on for the first and only time it said i had 65miles to empty

I forgot another important piece of info to ask...what is your average MPH (average miles per hour).
My mph has been steadily increasing to about 24 mph (for the past 3 days) and I'm getting a reading of an average 21 mpg. My overall monthly average is 28 MPH (daily work commute) and in my previous 4 banger I was getting an average of 25 mpg at 28 mph. I'm hoping once my MPH get up to my true average driving speed of 28 MPH that my average mpg goes up to about 23 MPG. It looks like this will be the case according to the numbers I see.
I'm very light footed and only really press on it when I need the power to pass lanes.

My old 2001 Grand Prix mpg average was also about 1 to 1.5 mpg higher than what I was actually achieving.
As long as I can average above 20mpg in the city, that's fine by me. Now that 93 octane is creeping up on $3.50 a gallon, I'm about to start filling up with mid-grade!

i've averaged 300-320 on a full tank 1/3 street 2/3 highway and i floor it sometimes
something strange = when i fill it 1/2 way...i only get like 130??
on long trips...it's been well over 450

When I fill up in the winter and summer months, I usually get to 430-440 miles per tank and during the spring and fall I would say 460-470 miles per tank. Typically there is usually 2 gallons left when I fill up.

running 20% City/80% highway (70-80mph) I got 358 miles and the "miles till empty" still said I had 124 miles till empty. I put in 12.895 gallons till it clicked. Hand calculated that is 27.76mpg... this is a 2011 Maxima SV with 18" wheels running 89 octane...I drive VERY conservative rarely seeing 2k rpm. Engine only has 800miles on it.

I have 2010 SV with monitor package and have about 5500 miles on it. When I drive I always get around 25.6 miles-most of it local but in Merritt island, Fl, I don't have heavy traffic and few traffic lights. I am a very careful driver and use the brake very infrequently and also let it coast to the light. The car is relativley sensitive to how one drives. One week when my wife drove it, she got around 23 mpg.

You have to be mistaken.

its so hard to talk to people about fuel mileage. To calculate it correct you must fill up, reset the trip or write down the mileage, then drive it and fill up again. Divide the number of miles by the gallons of gas used. Not difficult, but people just dont get it sometimes.
by saying i just got 180 miles in my last tank, that doesn't say much. How many gallons of gas did you use in the amount of miles you traveled. This is the only way to do this. Other ways are not accurate with comparing with others.
My last tank I got 95 miles!!! But i topped off before going out of town, my gauge was down to the 1st tick But I put in 3.6 gallons. So I got around 26.4 MPG. Computer said 26.5 MPG.
The most miles I have ever got was 537!!! Took 17.2 Gallons. Which means I got 31.2 MPG!!! I haven't come close to this again. It was this last fall. My wife and I drove back home and had a nice 10 mph tail wind the whole way home 6 hrs. I set the cruise on 71MPH and watched the gauge slowly go down. It was great!

you have to reset the computer! Check your owners manual for the steps for your car

i usually get around 425ish out of 16 gallons... I have 6k on the car and the computer is finally starting to be close to my real calculations (miles / gallons)
At first I was seeing like 27 on the computer but calculating 23-24... maybe break in period, i dont know

Yea, I just got 494 this last tank...woohoo!!! Like I mentioned to my wife, this car isnt the most exciting off the line, but more fun with highway passing and such. without gunning it at every green really helps
