TPMS ?

Is it detrimental in any way to run without the TPMS? The rims and tires are primarily going to be used for the Spring/Summer until I put the stocks back on for the winter months.

All the TPMS system does is warn you if the psi in one of your tires drops below approximately 28 pounds. While running without the TPMS sensors, the TPMS dash warning light will always be on. The TPMS system is informational only, and does nothing to prevent a leak, or stop one after it has begun.

You may wish to tape over the TPMS warning light on your dash while running without TPMS sensors. But when you change back to your wheels that have the TPMS sensors, don't forget to take the tape off your dash.

Thanks for the info! I was more or less curious if the sensors were not in place would it conflict with the elec sys. I've seen on the forum that some people have had a minor elec issue causing the whole dash to light up with warning lights! I think Ill save the couple hundred in sensors!

I was wondering the same thing...how bad is it just to leave it be...rather do that than spend money swapping the sensors or getting a tool to go back and forth between the two. Good to know that it's just informational, I think I'll ignore it for now.

or u can always buy after market sensors from tirerack im pretty sure is less than the dealer and it works cause here at my job we always order them when we need for our customers and till now no problems at all.. is a pretty good replacement instead of paying 150 for one at the stealership just saying..

I am coming toward the end of my second winter running without sensors in the stock wheels. The sensors have been moved to after market wheels with OE tires.

The cost of reprogramming sensors or buying a tool to reprogram dissuaded me from buying after market sensors. In effect - I'm now running the way I did for 40 years before TPMS!

No ill effects at all.
