Rough start the other day

Anyone ever have their car start rough. It was cranking for about 5 seconds before it started. It was the middle of the day, no lights were left on, about 50 degrees. Hasn't done it since but I was wondering if anyone has had an issue like this b4...

You might be seeing a dead battery within the next month

Actually, there is a post down the page concerning the OEM battery. Many peeps are just replacing it with a better quality battery, I have close to 60k miles and still have had no issues. Maybe I am just lucky.

You will read this below but our batteries are NOT maintenance free, so you have to check the water levels or make sure whoever does your routine for you to check.

Your battery will die out soon. Mine did the exact same thing and it died out days later...

yup sounds like battery, go get a maintenance free battery at your local auto parts store...while your at it, get your original battery tested. they will test it for free and hopefully will confirm your fix.

Your car is almost a year old with 16,000 miles and it is still starting with the original battery? You're one of the lucky ones for sure. LOL

My advice, go buy an Optima Red Top battery soon before you're stranded somewhere.

The G35s had a similar issue with their batteries dying out on practicaly a new car. There was a TSB on it on the Infiniti forums. Maybe you guys are seeing the same issue that some of them did.

I have had the optia Red Top die on me. Not sure if it was the car that killed it or if the battery just went out on it's own but it was only a year old red top. Took it back to autozone and they tried to charge it for 10 hours with no luck. 25% charge left on the battery but the battery wouldn't take any charge. I have gotta give it up for the battery though because it was acting up for a whole month before it was unable to start the car. I got a free replacement with the optima factory warranty.

Yes, that is exactly what my 09 did about a week or so before the battery gave up completely. Replaced with Diehard Platinum and no recurrence.

I've also noticed that if you pull your foot off the brake pedal a little too soon when pressing the start button will result in a rough start as well!

Yep! Your battery would die soon. Or have Autozone just check your Alternator. It is just a check. Would not cost you a dime. So, no harm in doing that.

Bought my 08 Maxima brand new in 08. Battery went out on me on 13th month. Got replacement from Nissan and paid half price. Second bettery died at 13th month again. I said, forget Nissan. Got most expensive Duralast battery Autozone offers. Died on me a month ago!!! Thought it was my Alternator. Autozone checked and said Alternator test is good. But Battery tested bad. So, I got a new replacement battery for free. Let's see how this one holds up.

My 09 has 20k on the clock, will be 2 years old in june of this year, starts fine but having multiple short trips throughout the week, Im in tune to how it sounds and how long it takes to start everytime

My 06 was 3 years old with 60k when the startup started to get longer and longer and I said to my Dad, you think it's the battery, a week later it did not start in a Shoprite parking lot at 9 at night

The battery on my '04 died in a new, uninhabited (under construction) resort development we were checking out in the North Georgia Mountains in July of 2007. The temp was 98 degrees, and the humidity was very high. Miserable.

My '09 was built the first week of October, 2008, and still has the original battery, which is working fine. But if this summer is like the last two (between 95 and 104 degrees almost every day), I will probably need a new battery before fall.

I should mention my 06 had a good 30 minute highway commute, but the job had me use my car and I shut it off and turned it on like 20 times a day, I was surprised the battery lasted as long as it did.

But now living in GA since Fall of 09, and having experienced only one summer, I will wait and see what move you make light, the 09 drives home to NY and back every 6 months, don't know if that is enough to keep it charged in between the multiple, less then 2 mile drive to school 5/6 days a week

I'm rather surprised at all these dead batteries. I have an 09 with 49k miles with the original battery and have had no problems. Yeah, I know batteries can go suddenly, but it's still fine. I don't usually drive on short trips so perhaps that's a influence.

The only time I've had a rough start was last winter when it was very cold (15 below) and the car was outside. I started it, moved into the garage, shut down, and restarted right away because I realized I was too close to the wall. The engine cranked for about 6-7 seconds and didn't start. Repeat 2 times. After sitting for a minute it finally started, but was very, very rough with a strong gasoline odor. I think the effect of cold weather (richer fuel mix?) and the shut down/restart sequence somehow flooded the engine. Hasn't happened since.
