Drivers seat problem

has anyone else noticed the metal part on the drivers seat bottom extender rusting out? I do and it is starting to bother me. Even when closed, you can see the rust because the metal is not completely covered. Is this something covered under warranty? I never recall it ever getting wet so I don't know how it could of rusted in a year.

here are some pics of it fully open and fully closed:

The leather looks fine, most people don't realize the abuse the driver seat goes through, cloth seats in Maximas no wonder we get no respect

My 09 is coming up on 2 years old, and I have no rust, don't even think the metal is visible, I'll check just to be sure, I never use the leg extender

i wasn't talking about metal. im talking about leather. my cousins 07 infiniti leather looks newer than that. the leather they used in the maxima was cheap leather. unless you had the premium leather im sure it wouldn't wear so much

from the picture it just looks like where the glue and foam met. Maybe the glue is corrosive? then again I can not tell if there is rust from your pictures.

Mine does not look like that at all. Can't see the metal bar.

Update

Took it to the dealer. They took care of it. Cleaned the rust off, then painted it. It looks brand new. They also fixed the rear sway bar bushing TSB and threw in a free full service oil change as it was due, for my troubles.

Glad you got good service. There are good dealers out there. But a few bad apples . . .

Yeah I can't see inbetween the lining like you can there. Maybe the stitching came undone?

Thanks for the follow up on this. My 2010 premium does not have this issue but it sure looks like lots of something wet happened on the seat maybe before you got it. I notice that my Nissan dealer has really been striving to be better at customer service and concerns (Rosen Nissan in Gurnee, IL)
