D2 Coilovers Installed - Pics
I was supposed to take the car in next week but my guy called & said he had a cancellation so I jumped out of bed and headed straight to the shop! Took him about 3hrs for install and alignment. I helped a little but tried to stay out of his way for the most part. So far all is well, the ride is great, no rubbing up front and it looks great. They may settle a bit so I will be making minor adjustments next weekend and dropping roughly another .25" - .5" depending how she sits. We had a slight issue with the rear camber. Its currently at -2.1 degrees, little out of spec but all other primary angles were within spec. I will be calling D2 on Monday about a rear camber kit and update after I get the news. Heres some pics during installation & after.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm really happy with both the ride and look. I went for a good drive today & although I can feel the road a bit more I rate the ride quality very well, having been in many other cars/trucks with coilovers. I'll play with the dampening response until it feels just right. My friend that installed them said that the quality of D2 products is exceptional and that he was glad I didnt go with KSport. Right now the front is sitting at 25" and the rear 25.5" (ground to fender edge). Undercarriage clearance is 3.25" at the lowest point. I will likely make a custom skid plate next weekend.
As far as wheel spacers go, I agree the rear wheels need to come outwards a little. I was going to powder coat the 19's but may just put that $400 towards some 20's. Next up is painting/installing the Stillen lip & roof wing. Should be painting on Friday and installing on Saturday.

Thanks. Yes I bought them brand new. Cost was around $1200 including install & alignment. I got em from Joe @ JM Auto Racing in NY. They shipped out of NC

Will.... Now that is a nice stance right there. Looking forward to the Lip install.
Front mounting plate delete for anyone who didnt catch it. IMO it looks cleaner from the side shots.
nice sig update too lol.

Thanks for your comment. To answer your question, I went with the coilovers for a few reasons: to go low was the first factor, as u can see it sits a fair bit lower than the Eibachs (they could still be turned down further). Second was the ride quality and lastly because I like to be different lol. I dont plan on driving the car during the winter ever again.

That looks really good; I am glad that someone finally decided to take the initiative and see what the car looks like with coilovers; I know I wasn't willing to... Hopefully D2 gave you a discount off of the product. When I was talking to them to be the first to put those on my max they offered me the kit for $700 do to a review on... Again congratulations on being the first looks awesome!!!

@KillaKam - thanks for your comment. I paid $900 for them plus additional shipping to Toronto, install & alignment. Money well spent IMO.
@nismo2010 - thanks for your comment. I believe you're correct about the independent suspension. The factory springs were removed. Coilover = coil over strut and in regards to the spring rate, I'm not sure what they are at. The dampening response is adjustable, right now I'm happy with the ride but may play with it a bit once the weather warms up

@ MrTeek - yes I will be getting some spacers next weekend. they should come at the same time I get the SPC bolts for the rear camber.
@ BBmaxi - I wouldnt say its pointless, the ride is good. the 19s are a nice wheel but I agree it would look much better with a bigger wheel sitting more flush...an upgrade is in the works looking at some 3pc wheels right now just gotta make my mind up

the tires tuck a bit. there is no 'space'/finger gap in the front or rear...u have to bend your fingers to touch the top of the tire. yes, the front is sitting a touch lower than the rear to accomodate for rear passenger/trunk weight. I like the slightly raked look. After i get the SPC camber bolts I will be dropping the front another 1/4" and the rear about 1/2". as stated above the current ground to fender edge measurements are: 25" front & 25.5" rear

what I meant was....how much space (horizontally) before it touches the fender/quarters ? like the side gap, the gap it fill when u put spacers in between the wheels.
the vertical gap is definitely nice and low being u can't even stick a finger in there without having to angle it, it's nice when there is zero gap like yours! Can't wait till u get some well fitting, stretched tire look.

ok I just measured the horizontal space between outer wheel edge and fender/quarter edges. they are different front to rear due to the camber on the rear and the front fenders already have a somewhat rolled lip.
The rear currently has 0.75" gap from outer tire edge to inner most quarter lip. if the rear quarters were rolled then the gap would be 1.25" but once I get the camber issue addressed then the gap should shrink to a 1/2" (without the quarters being rolled). The front measures 1.25" from outer tire edge to fender lip. the front wheels could move about 1/2" outward before they would likely rub the inner wheel well at current height.

Thanks. Just waiting on spacers and rear camber bolts to arrive. No, they are not maxed out, still have another 1" up front and nearly 2" rear. As I stated above I will likely turn the front down another 1/4" and the rear 1/2" after adding spacers, rear camber bolts and pressing the rear quater panel lips

noooo don't spend more money on spacers! that's like 200 bucks that u can spend on 20" wheels that will run about 900 bucks!
with your car that low and with more reach with 20" and the proper width offset, your car will look sick!!
