By the way, wasn't knocking your boy earlier just making sure you guys are ready to take on the amount of projects you're gonna get from this thread. It's a hot mod.

Just curious where did you get the replacement LED's from? From the looks of it they're all SMD style ones?

None taking. It does take some time to take apart the cluster but the main part is having to swap out each LED one by one. We will work on the price and get back to everyone.

While you had it apart, could you change the color of the gauges from white to red or something different?

Kmoney - Gave up on the idea? You can't buy a circuit board pre-loaded with different colors. I bet Nissan would charge at least $1000 for a new gauge cluster and ask you for your VIN number so they can add that to the list of things they will not cover again. I wasn't clowning on you man. Just want to be clear on what it took to do and not some plug and play aftermarket board that you can buy.

howell - Not really. The gauges themselves are printed already. I was thinking about reprinting the gauge layout with my own design but it would be tedious as you need to cut out every mileage marker, every km marker, all the warning symbols. Maybe something I will do in the future but not now.

IF ANYONE MISSED THIS FROM THE LAST PAGE -
Here is a video of all the gauges lighting up when you start the Maxima.
I also show the turn signals as well.

No sweat. If you wouldn't mind sharing where you got the LED's themselves that'd be cool.

Looks like you used a combination of white/blue for your gauges. Nice choice. I can't wait to see the color combinations people request from you and your boy - I bet we're going to see some HOT interiors.

BTW if you post a how-to for the other lights in the car you'd be a god.

I'm really not good at doing DIYs. We just get in there and go. Not really a how to kind of guy. Not too sure the LED size that you need but I would suggest you get about 150-200 if you want to do every single light in the car. I didn't do the actual mod. I just watched in amazement at how intricate the board was and how many circuits were in that cluster as you can see in the pics I posted. The stock cluster has white, orange and green in there. I think the green was from the turn signals but I don't remember. The crappy part about the LEDs was the fact that it only goes one direction so it is really by trial and error which direction they go in because it can go in 4 different ways. Another thing that was a pain was it kinda goes like Christmas lights. Every section of LEDs has its one set of circuits. As an example. A row of 6 LEDs would have 2 sets of circuits. So one wrong LED configuration would throw off 3 LEDs. You would then have to go and find out which one of the 3 is incorrect. Or 2 out of the 3 or even all 3 were set wrong. Lots of going back to the car, plugging the board back in and seeing which set wasn't lighting up and then starting over from that point.

Enjoy if anyone wants to do this on their own.

Looks good man. Did this to my 350 a long time ago. Just a side note for anyone doing this mod, keep in mind that blue is VERY difficult to read in daylight and VERY bright at night.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Yes, you are correct that the blue is very bright but the dimmer switch makes all the difference in the world. For that very reason, there is actually 2 sets of blues in my gauge cluster. The turn signals are less bright than the others. No one can tell because 1.... they are never on constant and 2...No one has anything to compare it to. We did think of that before hand. Certain lights needed to be toned down a bit and we accomplished that with 2 different LEDs. Same color, different MCD.

I show the turn signals in the video and they blink the same color. Just less bright but you can't tell. Its just easier on the eyes.

I was thinking red too, although something about that blue is "new" looking.

I'm still looking into how much work it takes to make the rest of the lighting match - I'd hate to do the instrument cluster but have everything else orange.

Anyone considering multiple colors? Just curious if everyone is doing a solid blue or solid red or what.

i would consider multiple colors just because my start button will be multiple colors as well

Funny you commented cause I almost said "I wonder what KMoney has planned for this, probably multiple colors + remote control somehow involved"

Hey guys. I'm working on getting the pricing done right so it's fair but worthwhile as it does take a lot of time. Haven't forgotten about anyone. Once I get it ready, get your gauges ready to ship!!

I'm hoping your Max isn't your daily driver? Probably fun to drive around guessing your speed and gas though.

It's all good; knew you were joking but funny to see how eager MooShoo has everyone to get this mod done. Dude should work for Nissan or something.

MooShoo, just an idea as far as the pricing/etc - maybe you could purchase a stock cluster, keep it on hand, have someone place the order - you mod the stock one you have on hand once payment is received in full PLUS a $100 core charge or something. Then they receive the modded gauge cluster from you, remove their gauge cluster, install the modded one, put their stock one back in the box, return to you, and you could refund the $100 core charge.

Just something to consider offering for those of the Maxima drives that would be interested in this mod, but don't have the ability to remove & ship their cluster while still needing to drive it daily.

Each cluster stores the odometer meter. I can't do it that way. Plus, if I try to order one, they would want the vin for corresponding mileage. The first person would make out with zero miles. And clusters are not cheap to have on hand. Still working on pricing but you would have to be without a cluster for min 3 days. Overnight to me. One day to do the mod and overnight back. It would have to be worked out on a case by case basis. We will streamline the process with shipping labels for both ways and incorp in the cost.

Don't forget people are gonna start geekin' for a how-to on the rest of the interior lights unless you want us to freight you the car to do the rest.
Blue instrument cluster and orange everything else will look odd.

I'm more curious about the resistors than the LEDs. When i did the 350 a bunch of resistors had to be replaced to go from orange to blue. Was it the same with this?
