Security+Plus Gold Preferred

Just bought a 72 month 100K $50 deductible extended warranty for my '09 Max (35k miles).
I paid $1,800 and believe I may have been raped.
Thoughts?

Just went outside and checked the paperwork on my '11 LE purchased in February and I paid $1285 for the same one. Your cost is probably higher due to not having gotten it when you purchased the car. Maybe someone that has gotten one about the same time as you will chime in.

Probably depends on the insurance carrier. I paid 1500 for for mine with same deductible for a 09 SV with 11 K miles.

What dealership did you buy it in Oklahoma ? Im considering getting it for my 09 as well. Still on the fence though not sure if it's worth it to me ?

If, hopefully, you never have to use it, then you'll feel ripped off. Heaven forbid you develop an electrical issue in the future and didn't have it tho.

Yes, I have this warranty as well, considering my luck with mechanical things.

Bought it at Bob Moore in Norman.
I didn't really haggle much so I'm thinking $1,800 was too high.
I'm curious to hear how much others have paid.

Wife? Is that you?

I bought it with 35,500 on my Max. I figured it was higher since my factory warranty was about to expire. Oh well. Win some lose some.

the a35 maxima is overall a dependable car, all of the known issues are minor and are either addressed via recall or all covered under factory bumper to bumper warranty.

I wouldn't bother buying the extended because the 36k bumper to bumper should cover all.

In fact, i'd opt for a 2009 or 2010 because those come with 120k factory warranty on tranny. Nissan seemed to have done a good job with this car.

You were! I paid $ 1,475.25 for the Security Plus Gold Preferred with seven years/100,000 miles of coverage with a zero dollar deductible. There are a lot of factors that determine how much we pay... Time of the month, how many warranties were sold or not sold during the month, etc. It's kind of sad. My advice to you is if it hiccups, take that Rickshaw back! Since Nissan wants to take you for a ride, you can take them for a ride. Just my two cents!

I paid $1,817 for the 8yr/120K mile Security Plus Gold Preferred, with a $50 deductible, after having them match an online quote I received from a dealer in CA. That is supposedly the dealer's cost.

Although I didn't buy one for my '09, the Nav screen went during the first 6 months and they told me the part alone cost $800. Of course that was covered by the 3yr/36K, but since I try to keep my Maximas as long as possible, I didn't want to risk getting hit with that type of bill later on.

I'm the idiot here that really feels violated...after reading these posts. I paid $2500 for the 72 month 100K coverage without hesitation through my dealer for a 2010 Max S with 15300 miles. I just wanted to get the loan approval process over and done with.

Anything over $1,000 and you were taken to the cleaners. Go back to dealership and get a refund, if possible still.

Very very very bad info you are putting out there........

dealer cost on a gold prefered 72mo 100000 k warranty after april 1 is $1,331 dollars.

How do I know? well ummmmmm Im a dealer

OP..... you paid about 450 over cost. Most dealers wont sell a warranty for less than 300 dollars over cost...... before april 1 the cost on the same warranty was 1273......

depending on where you live that price would be very close to dealer cost or right at it. in south eastern region cost after april 1 is 1840. before april 1 1760....

insurance rates vary by region from nissan to the dealer.......

You can cancel it, I just cancelled a maintenance plan, then wait to get the refund and buy it again

For the sake of cost comparison, it's now 12/28/2012. I just bought this plan for my 2010 Maxima:

72 months / 75,000 miles
$0 deductible

The cost for the plan was $1191 through Deborah Woodcock at Vaden Nissan in Savannah, GA. The cost to have the car inspected was $105 at my local Nissan dealership.

The inspecting dealership initially offered the plan at $1471 before inspection. This offer was subsequently dropped to $1371.

Here's the cost sheet for the dealership:

This is ostensibly their base cost. I'm led to believe that dealers get some kind of kickback from Nissan or we wouldn't be seeing the deals some have mentioned here. Be aware that if your factory warranty ends, you'll be shifted to a different (and more expensive) cost sheet for pre-owned vehicles.

You don't have to get the inspection and the plan at the same place. You could have a dealership across the country write you the plan; it's attached to your VIN (so it's valid at every Nissan dealership) and just requires faxing them the inspection report.

What's the mileage of your car? U should still have bumper to bumper factory warranty. That should be good enough.

Please don't quote that post, I'm still editing it. The standard warranty on my car ends in a month. The extended plan doesn't kick in until the existing warranty expires; there's no downside to buying it early.
