Squeaks and Rattles ?

My 2010 premium has 15k miles on it. Unfortuanently it has to sit in the sun on our super hot Carolina days and I have noticed on the hot days there is TERRIBLE squeak/rattle that seems to come from the monitor/radio/hvac control area. Has anyone had this?

Also

There is a rattle i have not been able to locate that seems to come from the right/center part of the car slightly more toards the rear.

I have driven around with NOTHING else in the car and it is still there.

Should I expect the new car warranty to cover squeaks and rattles such as these?

BTW none of these existed when the car was new during its first summer.

Thanks for any advice.

Absolutely...bring it in and get it fixed. You will need to 'show' them more than likely as some dealers will tell you they can't replicate it in hopes you won't complain any further. The problem with warranty is flat rate. Nissan says how many hours the job is worth, and that's all they get paid no matter how long it takes. My guess is a squeak or rattle in the dash is 1-1.5hours tops. So no one is gonna want to do it if it takes 4-5 hours to tear it apart, find the problem, replace/fix what is wrong, and put it all back together properly, that's time they don't get paid on. In reality though that's not your fault, and the complete opposite is true down the road when you pay for work.

So i would say, yea, bring it in and get it fixed under warranty.

And if you try to find the rattle yourself, have someone else drive the car so you can concentrate on finding the rattle.

Push hard against everything anywhere close to where the sound seems to come from. If your pushing stops the sound temporarily, show the tech exactly where you pushed. He/she will then have a much easier time determining the cause and fixing it.

Yeah this is my main concern, I cannot find it. The one that sounds as if it is coming from the dash control area does not respond to touch / pressure ANYWHERE on the dash :-/ I was really hopeing someone would have had this before and be able to tell me what it was. I hate dealerships and really hate going to them unarmed so to speak. (with knowledge that is)

a little after a month of owning my 2011 max purchased may 2011 i noticed a rattle that got louder durring acceleration. the dealership confirmed the rattle and could not diagnose it. they brought in nissan specialist and there was even talk of replacing the entire power train. after two weeks they replaces the front axles, reconfigured the computer and adjusted the idle and replaced the entire exhaust system. it ened up being the exhaust. other than them chipping and dingng the crap out of my rims i havent had any problems since

I have the same exact issue with my car. I got a little creeking noise comming from the middle by the gear box. Also the rattle in the rear section of the exhaust! Exhaust doesn't bother me but the creeking does.

Same...Rattling on my right side, and it rattles quite often, everytime I hit a bump, or the music plays. I have to get it checked out, but I noticed that dealerships treat your car like ****. So, I might just have to live with it.

I have been hearing a thump when the car is at a stop..does anyone know what this might be? I bought the car used 2009. 27k Miles on it.

This seems to be an issue on alot of cars with the panoramic sunroof. I have heard of dealerships tightening something what wasnt torqued to spec, to ripping out the entire roof.

There is a TSB for this. I don't have the number handy but if you search the forum you'll find it. Also, your dealership should be able to find it. It fixed my issues.

I think I found the source of the rattle/buzzing that seems like it's coming from the radio/hvac area...on my car it was the black plastic piece that covers the wire that runs from the headliner to the rearview mirror.

I stumbled upon it after remembering that my wife's (old) '04 Maxima had a buzz in the rearview mirror. Once I put my hand on the rearview mirror the plastic piece dropped off. I haven't had the rattle/buzz since.
