AC Compressor Problem

Has anyone had their AC Compressor serviced/replaced yet? Mine is starting to get "very loud" and am making an appointment to get it looked at. Where people used to look at my Maxima with envy I am starting to get the kind of looks that say "what a pos!!!"

As I am way past the warranty expiration kind of curious to what I'll face at the service dept!!

Why would anyone look and say what a pos? It depends on how well you keep your car. If you are saying just because of the A/C noise, It's hard to believe that it's that loud.

It is that loud!!! Trouble is it is intermittent. It may be fan bearings but I can't pin it down. One thing for sure, if I don't turn off the AC about a min before turning off the car, instead of the nice "turbo like spindown whine" I get more of a metal on metal grating noise. I guess I'll find out tomorrow, the guys where too busy today to look at it.

If it helps at all, I had the same issue with my 2008 Altima 3.5-it was the compressor which they fixed under warranty. Its a pretty expensive fix so hope it may be something different for you such as a pulley bearing

Just got back from the dealer....it is the fans (fortunately) still going to be about $500 by the time they are installed, but still cheaper than a total AC job. Unfortunately, I will have to live with the noise for a few days as they had to order the parts (good to know it isn't an "in stock part" as they said mine was the first they had to replace on a 7th gen.)
