Fluid flush at 30k?
Fluid flush at 30k?
So a couple months ago i went into the dealer to get something cosmetic fixed on my max. after i did they asked me if i wanted to flush all my fluids and that it would cost me about 300 dollars just for the tire rotation and fluid flush... i thought that was crazy so i told them to basically **** off lol..i was planning on doing it myself because i am very handy and i didnt want to spend 300 dollars on something that will cost me 60-70 bucks at the most to buy all the fluids. my question is: how necessary is it to be done at 30k? i was told by mechanics that that type of flush shouldnt have to be done until around 60k. also if i do this myself my warranty shouldnt be voided as long as i keep all receipts and documents proving i did the flush?
If you are talking about a transmission fluid change, it doesn't require replacing until 60K. You are correct, if you change the fluid yourself it will not void the warranty if the correct type and amount of fluid is used, it is changed at the correct interval and you keep a record of it being done.
yea the guy told me 1200 and i am normally respectful and reserved but at that point i lost it...i said are u F***in kiddding me? 1200 dollars for you to flush my fluids and rotate my tires?! i know routine maintainance needs to be done to newer cars but if i wanted to pay 1200 dollars for something so stupid, i would have boughten a pos hoopdy lol...thanks Ghozt...i have the pamphlet that was in the owners manual...im going to do all the work myself considering i have a lift and all the tools. im going to save all my receipts and show them if they try to bring up voiding my warranty if i dont do their rediculously expensive services
Yeah, dont flush tranny fluid. It can mess up seals because they use a machine to flush the fluid and sometimes the pressure from the machine flushing can create problems with seals. Just a simple drain and refill is fine.
here's a link to a how-to for the 6thgen tranny fluid refill, maybe this will be helpful

I was under the impression that the transmission fluid was only suppose to be inspected....oooh wait....change fluid for the "premium maintenance" protocol. Ok...gotcha. You all do know that the dealership can plug it into the Consult-III and the car keeps a constant calculation of when the fluid needs to be changed. "CVT fluid deterioration value" should be below like 210,000. If not, change it. If it's under that number, it's still ok.
