i had my timing advanced 2 degrees to 17, i can sorta feel it. you need a Consult 2 or 3 to do that though which Nissan usually has. if you want to see how much a Consult costs, go look on eBay and you'll see why most people will just go to Nissan for small things like this unless you got a buddy that owns one

Do you see a noticeable different in performance will all those mods ?

The reason why I'm asking is because I just got my car (White Pearl 2012 Nissan Maxima W/ Limited Edition Package) and all I have done is put the leds everywhere and the tint windows. However, I wanna do all those mods you have.

Thanks

yup. you can read more about it using Google but here's a few explanations.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignition_timing

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system1.htm

for a more detailed explanation of what advancing the timing does peep this

Really?.... Nissan dealer will help you tune your car?? I didn't know that What did you specifically say to them? Did you have to justify it somehow or just straight out tell them?

Uprev. Do all those bolt ons, then get the Tune done. you won't regret it. i know it will be a pain to tune since you are stuck with the CVT, but it's batter than any other option out there

doing a timing advance isn't a tune. you just ask your Nissan tech how much for a timing advance, they use their Consult II to do it and it takes like 10-15 minutes.

a few members already have an UpRev tune and saw some decent gains. me personally im waiting for HFC's or headers with o2 bungs before I spend any money on a tune

I never said anything about the timing advance. I said tune the car, but get all the bolt ons first.

I'd stay far away from a dealership that says they "dont know" what a timing advance is, they're either lying or complete morons.

The Consult is the computer Nissan techs use, it's several thousand dollars to pick up your own. It's an option in their Consult software I watched the guy do mine, so like I said any Nissan tech who has used one should know what you're talking about.

was that a tech that told you that, or a service manager? Either way, that person needs to be retrained properly

It was actually a service tech. I called 2 dealerships asking them and one response was " The computer in the car handle the timing it doesn't need adjustment" the second one was" We cannot adjust anything beyond factory settings" these people are idiots.

Well I called my dealership earlier today for advanced timing and they said they can do it but it will void the warranty LOL how can a dealer void there own warranty if they are doing the job themselves. It's not like a 3rd party shop is going to do it... I just hanged up....

What does the timing advance do to the AFR? Without a tune, I'm afraid the car would run richer.

You know what they say, lean is mean. Anyone know?
