^ he was asking for the HP gains on a 2 degree advance on the 7th gen, a 17 degree timing advance wont hold on the stock computer without a tune plus your gains are from a different motor/transmission. What you're talking about includes an UpRev tune too which is about another $500
but what you said are the instructions are dead-on, that's exactly what the tech did on mine for my 2 degree advance then did the idle relearn.

It should be a fairly similar comparison between a 2002 and 2009 vq35, It wont be the exact same but the gains would be very similar.
The transmission is different but that again wouldn't negate the fact with more timing you get more HP and across the board since its the base timing were adjusting.
As for the timing staying the only issues some have reported is if they leave the battery disconnect for too long it may wipe out the timing advance. Otherwise it will hold just fine.
Also he has no tune, He used a cipher to advance the timing but you cant tune with it, only data log, timing and idle rev.

Bump on an old thread here. Who has done this and can speak on it? Good, bad, indifferent? What do you think?
I would have to say good to indifferent. Really didnt notice too much but i did notice it when it was first done. Off the line response was better. Idk about yall but my 2011 needed a consult 3. I have a friend here in town who is high up nissan exec. And has his own shop, but only the consult 2 and they were unable to advance the timing on the cpu, it would not hold. My dealer actually did this for free for me when i was getting the oil changed. The trick guys sometimes is to request things while youre having other work done.

Id say do it all day boss. Its not going to hurt anything. I only have the cxj 2 pc spacers and a k&n drop in right now, but looking into getting the rl ypipe soon. Im focused more on cosmetic mods for right now since i dont drive the max much.
