Windshield Tint

Last year I had my entire maxima tinted including 50% ceramic on the windshield. It was awesome as far as it seemingly blocked 99% of the heat from the angry southern sun. The drawbacks were it was never 100% clear and I honestly felt it was too dark (mainly during dusk) During the day it was fine at night it was fine... Also more importantly it was never 100% clear don't know if this is

About 6 months after I had this done the dealership broke my windshield and I have been sitting on a voucher to get it re-tinted for another 6 months...

I just called the tint place and was telling them my thoughts and they told me they have a new tint from Llumar called Formula 1. He said it has less glare, blocks more heat, and is just a higher quality than what they had from Llumar when they did my car last year.

Anyone have experience with this Flrmula 1 tint or ceramic tint on windshields in general?

Yes, and I had to remove it for the reasons you mentioned above. Living in Florida, the llumar (non tinted) I had on the windshield did a FANTASTIC job of reducing the heat but as I drive a lot at night, the glare was just too hard on me...I can't say it was like driving in fog, but more of the "fuzzyness" you get coming into or out of a fog bank, just...consistently hazy...like driving with a dirty windshield you just couldn't clean. I had it removed after about a month trading some heat resistance for safety. I could certainly drive much more easily, without the constant "eye refocusing" or strain and arrive safe, without fatigue with it removed.

I really liked the heat blocking and didn't have much problem during the day. I really hope the technology someday improves.

My two cents, if there is the slightest chance you will be operating your vehicle at night, don't do it.

Glad to hear someone else know what I am talking about... No one I've spoken to locally understand what I mean. Was your tint the Formula 1? I'm kind of thinking either try the new stuff and if it's not any better I'll probably just deal with it over the summer and pull it off in the winter haha... Or try a different product like Air Blue 80... I'm already feeling the heat in the sunlight coming through the windshield that I never felt all last summer...

Folks, considering it's illegal in ALL states to go below 6" or the AS-1 line I'm locking this thread as the rules of maxima.org are such that we should NOT be discussing this.
