Tow Hook

LOL good luck... I've never seen people put tow hooks on their Maximas on this site and I've never seen one on the 7th gen facebook page....If your going to make sure it's actually functional not just screwing it on the bumper or using 3M tape to attach it like Honda owners....

it's 'rice' on hondas as well, doesnt matter what vehicle you put it on...if your car is super low to where you're gona end up messing up your bumper/lip for trying to get to the lower tow hook, you might as well install one, it has functionality, if you dont know what the functionality is, i guess you can't read, or comprehend...who knows

I was actually pretty disgusted with Nissan not including a tow hook on these vehicles. My 2007 Altima had a window that popped out of the front bumper and the hook simply screwed into the frame. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't locate that on my Maxima after some nice person stopped to pull me out of the sand in Galveston. I guess the rear frame crossmember worked just as well, but NOT fun rolling around under a hot car in the sand.

My 2007 Altima had the same thing. My 2010 Maxima SV does NOT have the cutout in the bumper or the tow hook. I got nothing.
Is the tow hook an optional accessory or something??

Funny story (coming from a little white boy)....the white dude came by in his big 4-wheel drive Chevy and offered to pull me out for $25. I had no cash cause I just don't keep cash....I'm bad with it...lost or spent in no time. He went on his way. It was the nice hispanic guy who REFUSED to take $ from me after he had to latch me up not once, but twice (after I got stuck AGAIN after unhooking the tow rope the 1st time). I just like to share that story...
What goes around comes around. This little white boy went and got a tow rope to keep in the Tundra when it started snowing here for just such an occasion.

Why wouldn't it be there on a 2010? it's on the 09, it's shown on the photos of the 2012 on Nissan's site as well. odd, very odd.
I googled around and it says Nissan no longer includes them. I didn't buy the one that was in my car.
It was just there in the tray with all the other junk that was in the tray. It was a long bolt like object with a ring on the end. There were other things in the tray, a safety kit, a flashlight with dead batteries, screwdriver, jumper cables, first aid kit, etc.

they ALL have the cutouts and should come with hooks
2010 SV has it in the front bumper and the tow hook was in the back under the cargo cover where the spare tire sits, so does my buddy's 09 and a co workers 2012, the cut out is in the same spot on ALL the cars and they all came with the hooks... if you don't have a hook it probably wasn't on the cars invoice meaning didn't come with it and you didn't pay for it..... the cutout is in the same place on all of them and i've never seen one without (i work for Nissan btw). You can get the hooks from the parts department at your local Nissan Dealer and if you got it used then the owner lost it and you can easily replace this.

Could it be possible that the bumper without the opening for the tow hook was modified by someone who wanted a totally smooth look to his bumper, so filled in and painted over where the opening used to be?
Or maybe the original bumper was damaged, and someone bought a replacement bumper from a source that was selling el-cheapo bumpers from somewhere like Viet Nam that didn't have the niceties such as a tow hook opening?
I have not always noticed, but don't recall ever seeing a 7th gen without the front bumper tow hook opening.

5th gens and earlier had serious tow/boat hooks underneath because they were spending weeks tied down on an auto carrier ship while crossing the Pacific. 6th and 7th gens were all made in Smyrna, and didn't have that long ocean ride to worry about, so these gens have a simple towing hook.
