Damn I miss my car (never thought I would say this) it has been a long two weeks!!! Can't wait to start her up... Might have to take mine thru a couple of tunnels this weekend lol
My coworker heard me drive up and asked me to gun it around the parking lot. His jaw dropped and he said "it really sounds like you have something under the hood now".

Is there any drone at highway speeds (or at all) with just the RL y-pipe swap (no other exhaust mods)?

I just had my AAM installed, about 30 mins ago, and yes there is little drone at lower rpm level, but I have to take it out on the highway to see how it sound. 1st thought it was not the sound that I was expecting, anyway I took it up to 100km's and really didn't hear alot of drone, and it is somewhat quiet, until you really step on it. I'm running my stock air box,
Lower end speed you can defiantly hear the exhaust outside and inside the car.

I have the Raceingline y-pipe and I took Ghozt info and the guys cut the y-pipe and BAM! fitment issues solved. Wasn't too happy when they exhaust shop guys told me that the Y-Pipe was not stainless steel, saw them take a magnet to various parts of the y-pipe and it would stick, but put it against the AAM exhaust and nothing.. A little disappointing about that as their website states "Specially made using full stainless steel construction"

I feel the 1900 RPMs is the sweet spot for the drone, and it really isn't even that bad - it sounds kind of nice. Yeah in the low RPMs you can hear it very well, high RPMs all I hear is my intake primarily. I'll be uploading a video shortly. Glad the adjustment worked for you; yeah AAM wasn't too impressed with the RL Y-pipe and the material it was made of.

You are correct, and yes it not that bad, but it will take some time for me to get adjusted to it as I'm so use to a quieter interior. Just at cruising speeds you will not really hear it, but I'll take it on the highway to see how it really sounds. I had to put my OEM airbox on a few weeks ago, ( had to get a nissan inspection done for a platinum warranty coverage), and nver took it off. I will put the Stillen intake back on hopefully today, and see what it sound like.

Did you notice when you left off the gas it doesn't seem it wants to drop into the lower gear/rpm range. Also feels like it still want to keep going. I noticed this when I'm coming to a stop, humm I may need to clean the throttle body and see if that helps, I'm hearing a little whistle when I'm coming to a stop..

Yeah that's the one trade-off with getting a nice sounding exhaust, no more super quiet cruising.

Regarding the gas pedal and RPMs, no I didn't notice anything like that. Be careful cleaning your throttle body, you don't want to touch the butterfly valve or you'll need Nissan to help you fix it. dunno what the whistle noise is either. what shop installed this exhaust?

The magnetism ... isn't that just due to using lower quality metal? Still could be stainless steel ... just not great quality.

Glad you finally got the exhaust installed! It's been frickin months man, since you got it.

Spot on with 1900 rpm. And honestly, sometimes I drive with no music on so I can listen to the low-pitched hummmmm. And the response as I depress the throttle

FYI ... a custom exhaust shop can replace the resonator pipe to get the sound level to your liking (louder or quieter). If you go much bigger than 3" though you're gonna be screwin around with the back-pressure of the exhaust.

Personally I love the sound level it's at. Glad you guys both got the exhaust installed.

AAM FTW!

Yeah, I see how it goes in the next little while, it still new part and it still need to be broken in. Just curious the midpipe with the resonator, if installed the opposite way (resonator further away from the y-pipe, just turning it.. etc etc), will the sound change or will it effect performance ?

Again it will take time getting use to it, I get the stares from people now while driving, so not sure if it is good thing of bad thing..lol

As for the RL y-pipe, i know, I'm sure there is some stainless in there but a full stainless would be better.

they are currently the only company that makes one. i have another thread i started where CXJ Performance, who has made other parts for our car, is interested to see if people want him to build a Y-pipe after he finishes his HPFCs

For everyone complaining about a magnet not sticking......

Stainless Steel is not magnetic unless it is of low quality. This is because stainless has a lower iron content and more chromium in it.

A second option for a y-pipe is not a bad idea. Better quality, bigger diameter, perhaps?

not entirely sure yet still batting the idea around; i know it'd be higher quality metal and OEM fitment. whats the ID on the Racingline one, 2.5" right?
