Oil change already?
Oil change already?
So I've had the car just a hair over 8 weeks, with 1050 miles on the Odo. Suddenly today the Oil Maint warning popped up on the screen. So I pulled out my pack of documents and checked the Dealer maint schedule - first one is at 3750 miles/ 3 months - Free of charge
second one at 7500 miles/ 6 months - $71.00
etc etc...
I haven't checked the level yet, but there should be no reason to consume oil at that rate for a car made anytime after 1980, so I'm guessing the level is not low (I know, I know, I should pop the hood later)
Doesn't this seem quite premature? It's as if a Jiffy Lube franchise owner moonlights at Nissan in Smyrna setting up the service sensors.

Yea, with my '10 it's just a reminder based on how many miles you've driven. And the interval can be changed. The car doesn't actually know when an oil change is needed. Unlike some cars where it let's you know there's an oil change needed based on driving habits and climate. Unless there is a new feature on the '12s
oil change reminders
I assume you know there are 2 reminders if you have the tech package, one is on the nav screen and the other one is on the odometer, they can both be set or one can be set, oil change, oil filter, tires, other. and they need set at the oil change.
