Paint Finish on your Maxima??

I got a black maxima, it has really light swirl marks and also some chips and imperfection due to my poor paint touch up skills but what about your maximas paint finish ? is it perfect?

Mine is the same... my Dad has a Black Cadillac DTS and its the same on his... I think its just the fact that since it's black you can see the stuff much more than any other color

Mine is also black but I don't seem to have many swirl marks. It had one owner before me and he also used touch up paint on ALL of the tiniest little dots/chips. If you went overboard with the touch up paint, take a rag (an old tshirt is perfect) and a little bit of laquer thinner and your big paint blobs will come right off (and it won't affect the original clear coat around the chip). My car looked like it had chicken pox when I first got it, but now it's smooth as can be.

The "Dr Colorchip" works very good for rock chips, it's kinda spendy but better than having the big blobs all over. You have to re-apply it numerous times especially on the deeper chips.
Also look at investing in a good DA polisher. To me they are a "must have" requirement for the Black/Crimson Blk colors if you don't want to see all those swirls.

Yep....I bought a 2011 right off the lot and the paint is the most dissapointing part of the car. Swirl marks, and it chips too easy for a car of this caliber.

Could be worse I suppose.

on top of that the Nissan paint is pretty soft. I feel like I could push my thumbnail into the paint and leave a mark...

This is why I would never buy a dark colored daily driver again. I had a black '06 Charger and the paint was just as thin as the Maxima. When I look closely at black luxury cars, their blacks look so much thicker and luscious looking.

Yep. Paint is terrible. Anyone want to start a class action lawsuit against NISSAN.

Its been this way for the past 12 yrs.... My Z's and Maxi's since that yr onward have had crappy paint.....Nissans seem to be a tad worse than some of the other MFG's since they went more water based with the paints about then.
