Radio/Climate Control Cluster

Does anyone have photos of how they took their radio and/or climate control cluster out of the vehicle. I am looking to hide some wiring, but didn't want to just go prying on the face plates in the event they have certain areas to pop the plates off.

My end all goal is to try and splice a power supply into my Sirius radio and also splice into the AUX port wiring for the same reason.

Part of that video is wrong depending on your year model. On my 2011, I almost broke my radio following those directions trying to install my upac back in feb. the screen and climate control cluster come out pretty easily, but if u need to remove the face of the radio, don't pry the front of it off, instead remove the four screws above the radio, and the two below it, and the whole thing will slide right out.

I've got a new 2012 S Limited Edition. I'm sure it's the same. Thanks to the both of you!!!

Can anyone point out what wire is the power source for the radio?

My end all goal is to power my Sirius from the radio, so when the vehicle is turned on or off, the Sirius unit will also turn on and/or off.

Any idea if I splice into my AUX cable BEHIND the plug, would I still be able to plug an Iphone or Ipod into the AUX port and use it??

AUX should be fine as long as your splicing...obviously don't have two things on at once.

My wiring resources (I'm an installer) says there's no ACC wire at the radio. I haven't verified this so if you know have to use a DMM (digital multimeter) you can check. But here's what I got for you.

Radio Constant 12v - Yellow/Red
Radio Ignition - Purple/Yellow

Aux Input Left (+/-) - White - Red
Aux Input Right (+/-) - Black - Red

You can splice your Aux Input wires at the white 32 pin plug behind the radio as well.

Hope that helps.

20 Max- Since the Sirius is normally powered by a 12 volt cigarette plug, couldn't I tap into the 12v yellow/red wire and draw my power source that way?

I have no DMM and wouldn't even begin to know how one works if I did possess one!!!!

Thanks for the info!

If anything use the purple/yellow. It just won't turn on when in ACC but will turn off with the car.

But here's the catch, most satellite systems actually drop the voltage to 5v at the cigarette lighter plug. DO NOT CUT THE PLUG OFF. Go to ur local autoparts store or radioshack and buy a cigaratter adapter that has open ends to wire to the radio and just plug ur cig lighter into that and tape it so it won't come loose.

hmmmm, that's the catch- My cigarette power supply is HUGE. Not sure there is a way to plug into a radio adapter and discretely hide the whole shabang!

I'll have to do some thinking on this one!

Do you already have a sirius radio?? And if not, does the radio have to be detachable??

EE,

Yes, I already have a Sportster 5 that I had in my Titan that I traded. I'm certainly not tied to using this system, just trying to find a way to integrate Sirius into the vehicle.

Most audio places around my area haven't come up with a good solution and point to a dockable solution like the Sportster models and add an external antenna.

I'm also looking to keep whatever I have mounted in the vehicle, so the ability to unplug it and go somewhere else isn't a huge deal to me.

The problem isn't finding one, the problem would be trying to mount that AND the baseball bat sized plug behind the faceplate!! I have yet to pull the radio out, so I'm not sure what kind of room I have back there since I don't have Nav or Bose systems.

You have room back there. Nothing to worry about.

I did a little searching this morning, what do you all think of hard wiring in a power source this way instead of the aux cigarette plug behind the face plate???

Ok, ok, ok..... I spent about an hour sitting in my car and staring...yes staring, at my radio. There is an SV model that still has the standard radio that my "S" has, however it has an updated display screen. My thoughts are that the radio and "guts", should be the same as my "S", as I can't imagine Nissan selling two different radios that look the same for cost reasons. After reading my manual several times, I spotted the 1-3 paragraph on page 4-71 that the AUX button WILL NOT display the satellite radio mode if there is no receiver and antenna installed.

Soooooo, does this mean that if I purchased a Sirius module such as:

http://www.tss-radio.com/products/is...i-vehicles-1-1,

that I would be able to integrate Sirius into my exsisting radio? If the radio's are the same, the above link would provide the "guts" necessary to connect with the radio and to access the Sat. mode from the AUX button??!!??

If you want a satellite radio but, want to keep your stock head unit, I would honestly look into the PAC audio unit. It will give you iPod hookup that can be controlled through the head unit, and steering wheel. It also can add satellite radio to the same piece. The links are below.

I called PAC about their unit, since it only says it's good through the 2011 model year. I was informed that they have not tested in a 2012 to confirm that the unit will work. PAC wouldn't tell me if the 2011 and 2012 "S" models appeared to be the same and/or if they even THOUGHT that it would work.

Anybody know of any differences in the stock radio for the "S" model between 2011 and 2012??

I'd like to pull the trigger, but would hate for it not to be compatible....

EE ..... Thanks! I'm sure the Sirius would work as well if the IPod interface works.
