Where to mount a powered GPS?
Header says it all. I've got my Garmin 360 on a suction mount that's attached to the (largely barren of useful information) screen on my Maxima S. There's a cable that follows the plastic/rubber border down to near the gearshift, which then winds a hidden route to the fuse box.
Problems: The suction mount is crap. It falls off in heat and rattles otherwise. The cable is held in place by velcro, which also falls off in heat.
The cable is the real irritant because I can't hide it and the velcro (or two-sided tape) leaves gunk on the dash. There might be enough clearance in the dash pieces to shove in Invisicord, but I'd have to make the cord myself because it doesn't exist for Garmins. Otherwise, this mounting location is very convenient.

The red dots are places I'm considering. I've left a dot for the existing location to the show the wire run. The more hidden the wire run, the better, which is why I'm keenly interested in a headliner solution. The left vent is also appealing because it's very near the fuse box, though I've heard differing reports about the sturdiness and reliability of such mounts. If there's a way to shove a metal bracket (custom or otherwise) between the two dash pieces below the left vent, that might even be preferable.
The cupholder mount would be easiest, but suboptimal because it's well below my line of sight.
What's your favorite mounting location and how did you set it up?
