Keys with the Chip

Just wondering if these keys have a "locating feature" built in...i mean the time is now and technology exist...they even put chips in dogs and cats now...bottom line misplaced my keys and have been tearing through my house to find them( i think one of the kidoes is playing a prant)...but woulnt be nice like with iPhone, go on the website, plug in the chip or key # and boom there it is!
this way i would know for sure that the key is at home or around...or if someone actually stole it...

Oh I know, it should have been done years ago! Why haven't any auto manufacturer done something like this?

Well actually they do. It really how much you want to spend on the good ones and if you want to put up with having an attached small device to the article you want to keep track of. However with the miniturized electronic industry you would think something like this would be built into the car remote where a push of a button and the lost remote would beep. If both remotes were lost a button in the car could do the same job.

thats exactly what i was talking about...rather than third party device and integrated key chip either that you can monitor from the car, but in the case the car is locked out, by an app or web based service.
Going to talk to my "electrical engineer" buddy and see if he can come up with something like this...Will let you know if the discussion will lead into anything.
