Transponder key

Can I take my chip out of my key and just put it in another key? My key works fine...the keychain part is broken...and I want a new key...or will it have to be reprogrammed?

New key, cut and programmed ... ~ $68.00.

Thanks everyone...have a hole drilled in my key right now...just want a new key
