I have been lurking on the forums for the past few months with anticipation of buying a 7th gen maxima. I purchased one finally a week ago and am looking to relocate the front plate (before I actually have one). I searched the forums and really didnt find a whole lot of info. The stillen one that threads into the tow hook on the g35, 350z etc is all I found thats close but I was unable to locate anywhere behind the lower grille opening to thread the large metric threads into. Am I missing something?

 

How about this--I saw a Mustang the other day (in MD) where the front plate had been cut down to just the numbers. It really looked sharp--like a small version of a European plate. I wondered what the law would say about it. I need to find out. I hate what the front plate does to the look of the car.

What I did was I took the plate mount and unscrewed it from the bumper and flipped it upside down and attached it down below the stock location. To make it fit correctly I had to radius out the backside of the mount at certain locations to fit the contour of the lower valance lip. I also cut a notch to allow it to move further back so it would not stick out too far forward.
Some minor fabrication skills will help along with additional hardware will be needed to make this work and look right. I used a couple of screws and nutplates along with some nylon ties to secure it. It took a lot of trimming and checking to make it work.
I don't have really good pictures to show but if you unscrew the mount and flip it around and set it into the area below the bumper you can get a good idea what I did.
I believe another member also did this kinda thing as well.
I didn't like it up high on the bumper or mounted way over to one side.

i couldnt fit the show-n-go on the front in any place that didnt look ugly as hell when it was retracted. im lookin for a tow hook solution too but damn they're expensive

 

Hey did you ever pop the tow hook door off the front to see if you had thread in yours? I can still contact that one guy on the website about the solution we saw on that Audi at the Manassas car meet.

 

I investigated the tow hook thing .. I had the little square cut and when I opened it... Nothing.. I have a 2010 SV sport..
