Anyone with experience with Double DIN dash kits?

looking to install a double din nav system into my car in the coming weeks. I see that both Scosche and Metra have a kit available:

Metra Kit Metra Kit

and

Scosche Kit Scosche Kit

Anyone here used both kits? What I'm wondering if one has a better fit/finish to the other. I currently have a metra single kit and it works well and matches pretty well, but the pic if the metra install pdf makes the double din look....off.

The scosche uses its own mounting brackets whereas the metra just is a snap-on plate and uses the stock metal brackets.

Metra all day. But if it was my car I would be painting the dash kit. I painted all my interior pieces gloss black to lose the wood grain. I would do the same with a dash kit.

I just ordered a Metra double din kit for my 05 and it ended up being a dark grey instead of a color match. Going to contact the company about it.

What paint did you use? Did you scuff it before paint? How's it look?

how do you remove the cup holder cover? Does the whole lid come off, or does the cover section pop off?
