Swap for a 2012 Max?

Update:

Back looking at the 2013 Maximas now that I paid off the 2009 SV Sport no tech. It has 25k miles on it, great condition obviously. Looking at a silver sport tech loaded 2013 w 0% finance if I were to trade up. I would wanna get close to 19-20k for a trade, possible? Also what kinda selling price would the 2013 go for?

Basically looking to take advantage of fact I have the car paid off, and I have only 25k miles on a 5 year old car. if the deal didnt work, fine I'll walk.

I only have 20k miles on my Max (yes, LOW miles for 4 years, so trade should be solid as they quoted me 22k on the offer they mailed without knowing mileage). Am I nuts to trade up? The only other car I'm really interested in owning is a Jeep SRT8 but it's north of 60,000 bucks, and thats a huge investment vs a trade for a new max. What do you guys think?

I also thought if I go to same dealer perhaps I could push them to throw in free oil change, extended warranty, something to make it worth my upgrade.
If you really love the car, I say go for it if you're not going to be hit with any negative equity on the trade. I had a 2010 SV (only with cold weather pkg) with 33K on it, then traded up to a 2011 SV Sport/Tech fully loaded in December 2011 for a helluva deal. Got something like 8K knocked off the sticker and they paid off my loan without any issues at all.

I owe about 7k on the car, I had it brand new! So I'm gonna get a nice down payment after they pay off the loan. Did they throw in oil changes etc? I got tired of the maintenance costs to be honest with you. I also would like an extended warranty...if they can make it a sweet deal I'd be tempted. I want the silver SV + Sport + Tech its sticker 40k, so I'm guessing 32k with 0.9% plus a solid offer on mine is what I'm looking for. Did they give you a great offer for the trade?

Nah no oil changes with the 2011. I like to use my own oil and filters anyway, so that wasn't a big deal to me. I still owed 23K on my 2010 when I got the 2011 and they paid off the entire thing. Then used about 4K in factory rebates, etc and got another 4K knocked off the sticker.

8th gen is lookin like 2015

GM_Traitor traded-up his Max for a 2011 sport/tech and loves it. if you know what you want in the car and wont get hit too negatively financially, why not man?

If the dealership makes me a heck of a deal I think I'm gonna go for it.
Only car I want more is jeep srt8 which is 63k or m3 sedan which is terrible out of warranty and also big money.

Although I didn't trade up with a Max, I traded in a '08 Accord with 30k miles for a '11 Max with 6k miles. I owed $6k on the Accord and traded it in for $13k. Purchased the 2011 Maxima SV Sport + Tech + Nav + an appointment with the tint shop for $29k.

Never been happier with a car purchase. Good Luck to you!

Best part about nissan is they are willing to deal on the maximas...not holding onto sticker or anything. I'm gonna head in next couple days see what they put on paper for me.

If I were you I would wait for the 8th gen... maybe mod yours/rims etc to refresh it. If you dont like the 8th gen which should start showing up online in 3 months than you should can get an even better deal at the end of the year. 2 cents!

8th gen wont have these incentives or discounts. only considering it cause i have extremely low miles and can probably bargain a great deal right now. flips me into a new car like a lease, but i own it again, and i have title so it would be completely towards new one. In any other situation I wouldn't even think about it..but think its worth going in to run numbers.

I'm only speaking for myself but I would never jump to the same generation car once I paid it off. Options alone won't be enough for me.

well if u like the current 7th gen body style then go for it because the 8th gen will be completely different and nothing like the 7th gen..in fact the 7th gen looks like nothing out there right now

Basically it would be like a leased the car for 5 years, and would be going to a new one. good points about it being same car. Only other car I like out there is the jeep srt8, but its a TON of money, and its a jeep..double price of a maxima.

I never understood how people buy new cars and then in a 5 year span they only drive it 25k miles.

live close to work and you end up spending less of your life stuck in traffic... thats how i look at it and you burn less fuel.

You kinda made my point. Sounds like you don't drive your car much and to trade it in for what is essentially the same car but with options that you won't use cause you won't be driving it much sounds like a big waste of money.

Buy yourself a nice 60 inch flat screen instead j/k

lol,

I purchased my 09 Max SV last year in june of 2012 (used), the person who owned the car previously, only put 13,700km's on it ( it was an older couple). I first saw it online and it was a 2hr drive for me, It was sitting at the Nissan Used car lot and when I saw it, I fell in love with it. I ended up paying 27k for it, free and clear. I'm now pushing close to 48,000 km's and I'm also looking to upgrade to a newer year also. With the mod's i've done, I don't think it will effect me at all, as I kept every single part to the car.. lol..

To the OP I'm in the same boat I want to upgrade also, but not sure how well I'm going to get it up the **** at the dealership's when i go in to discuss trading in my car.. lol

Unless you have huge disposable income why not save money and enjoy your paid off new car?

Our 2009 & 2010 are better than the new ones.
We have all 4 windows auto up / down 2011+ do not
We have rear climate & audo control 2011+ do not
We have a handle inside the trunk to close w/out touching the paint 2011+ do not

These are little things; but they're little things I like in my 2010 a 2013 offers me nothing...

Do all 2010 have rear climate control? I just got my car and haven't sat in the back so I don't know if it's even there.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think only the Premium models with the Tech package had this.

While this is good for some people what about the couples with young kids who like to play with things? I recently drove my brother and his 2 young sons on a 600 mile trip and I had to turn off the rear controls because they couldn't stop playing with them. I also miss the fact that my rear seats don't fold down either, a much desired option that I missed in my euphoria of buying my Maxima.
