Anyone here has added additional gauges?
I am not really a big fan of multi gague pillar, but i would use an extrage gauge for the Battery, since we dont have that.
Any recommendations if you have added one?

Yeah I like this idea but also would like to change the pillars to be all black...

 

well the outside pillars its easy...i plan to plasti-dip them...i've seen them done on the white car, look good with the good tint job, yet another thing on my list

 

i found some universal gauge pillar pods...but nothing specific. Will have to see if i can find anything thats worth the investment

^ too much time that i already dont have! plus these are so common, i was just seeing if there is one that might not be listed for our maxes, but from other cars that do make a perfect fitment.

I considered this myself for a hot second... then remembered we have side curtain airbags in the A-pillars which = no go unless you want that stuff exploding in the cabin if someone t-bones the drivers side.

If you want additional gauges in the car, I'd look into a 2 or 3 gauge hooded pod to put on top of the nav hood in the center stack.

unless you have a turbo or something i dunno what you'd need the gauges for.

i use an app (Torque) with my android tablet that connects to the ECU using a bluetooth OBD-II adapter (from eBay) and pulls all the regular stuff for me (MPH, IAT, coolant temps, throttle position, etc etc) and you can create digital gauges or meters or whatever. also lets you make videos and overlays with the data from the ECU, pretty sweet.

This is exactly what I did using my iphone. I am using the GL1 cable so it also charges my phone. I created digital gauges to read my RPM, HP, engine temp, intake temp, fuel level, instant mpg, overall average mpg and exact distance to empty. I use dashcommand app to create what I want. Looks a lot more high tech then pod gauges.

 

If and when I decide to install a trans and oil cooler, that'll be the time I hook up some dedicated gauges to read the powertrain vitals.

I have an OBD-II data scanner with real-time data and capture capabilities... but would rather have a 3 gauge pod for oil temp, oil pressure and water temp. Call me crazy, but I like knowing what's going on under the hood at all times

 

Gauges are very helpful for people who drive aggressive

the top things i would use the gauges for are
Engine temps, CVT temps, and Wideband for tuning (but some of us dont know wtf they doing so they ask why do we need them)

CVT/Engine temps being top on the list

what i would do is get some AEM and mount them on top the the screen in the center of the dash which i feel is a perfect spot for them just have them facing you on a 45degree angle ...which is what im going to be doing.

hmm i will be interested to see how that looks. I was actually looking for a single, Voltmeter gauge.
How small do these gauges get? i wonder if there are flat LCD type gaiges available, this way you can mount them right on the screen or like in the corner of your cluster protective clear plastic cover

 

These are 45mm and only 1" deep, so you could mount them easily.

no, he's saying he doesn't know how to read what i posted.

you can build digital gauges using a smartphone or tablet for about $44 to pull any info from the ECU you want. notice i didnt say "i dont know what they're for" but that i said there is no reason to spend the money for something you can do with an app, and who doesn't have a smartphone these days?

the only reason you'd NEED physical gauges is for anything additional you added to the car that you can't pull from the ECU. and even then you're adding gauges to a 4 door family sedan which im sure will make the interior look super classy

 

I'm still holding out hope I'll be able to purchase a future gen with all the (fighter jet type) heads-up display gauges built into the windscreen.

 

well my fix to this.. since i already have the dual screens.. is with 200$ more.. using dashcommand app for iphone.. incorporate it to the top screen. but thats a project for next month lol
