CXJ performance 7th gen manifold & TB spacer install this weekend!

well i finally install the cxj manifold & TB spacers this saturday with the help of my friend and of course Cory from CXJ Performance. first off i pulled my max into the garage were me and my friend read the instructions several times just to make sur we had everything we needed to get the job done! we carefully took everything apart piece by piece making sure we didnt lose track of anything everything went smooth aside from dealing with the coolant hoses that we wanted to make sure we did it a smmoth as posible which we did! Oh by the way we clamped the hoses down low so we litterally only spilled a drop of coolant which was great i didnt hear anyone use that when i read this forumm so i was nervous to approach it by luckily it crossed my mind anyways the hardest part was getting that hose down low so it didnt kink as bad with after several tries we managed to get it kink free so i was happy.. we were very thorough and extremely careful with the TB valve and the manifold taping it very secure so nothing was even close to it. but the one thing that i noticed on step ten was that my car has a piece that wasn't on there some kind of vacuum hose with a plunger? but after wrestling with the CAI housing and the cutting a 1/4" of the intake rubber hose to make it fit it and triple checking everything was back in place we closed the hood any began the reset stage which after talking with cory and him telling me it will take a few times we got it on the 5th try which was great i noticed when it tells u to press the gas pedal 5 times within 5 seconds do it very fast thats what worked for me! anyways it was time to take my girl out for a ride with my friend in the car. So once we got on the highway i slowly started to floor her just to get a feel of what she could do cause we obviously can tell the dfference on the way she drives i drove her on D and then on DS and the first thing i noticed that she seemed alot louder but in a good way my friend was very impressed with the torque of the max and loved every minute of it. so bottom line the spacers are a very nice add on to the CAI & the cat-back exhaust worth every penny so with ending i would like to thank Cory my boy MIke and Ghozt for the support through all of this.. Good l00kz Fam till the next upgrade which cory said will be soon....

if you can notice the BOPs with your butt dyno, then you could probably make a living butt dyno'ing cars because thats some subtle ****

That'd be my kinda job.
So, ghozt (or anyone else who has the BOP's) after installing and not really getting any benefit in the pickup, did you take em back off?

the results of testing for most block off plates shows they shift the power band upwards (low end losses, high end gains). when i installed mine i felt a slight improvement top end, but it's one of those things thats hard to say "yeah i really felt a difference".

after the BOPs were tested on the 5th gen Maxima with the 7th gen motor showing almost no high end gains a few of us tried taking them back off to see and noticed a again a slight, but not great, difference up top. we put them back on and have left them since. if you're not the type of person who drives like a maniac though it's probably better to not have them due to the low end loss because if you dont hit the speeds often enough where you feel those gains, what's the point?

::stares at himself..:: Hmm..I drive like a maniac..therefore, I shall install them Ding ding ding!

I'll test them by doing a 0-60 run with the cars I have beaten..and If I lose this time..we know the problem!!

(On the track of course)

All a BOP (block off plate) does is seal a hole. That's it. It could be NWP, CXJ or something home made. The results will be the same... a sealed hole.

t_behr you know if you get a glass seal BOP it act as a heat sink n gives an extra 5whp gain up top proven on the dyno... you have to get the XJC BOP

Remember Clashez idea of the bubble BOP in an attempt to gain more plenum volume?

Yah... BOPs are a trade off between low end and high end. I did notice the loss of power off the line, but you get the extra kick when you hit the higher RPMs.

Doing a tune helps to regain any lost low end. But let's not get into tuning in this thread. That discussion can be found elsewhere in the forum.

Yeah..That's what I figured..I am installing both BOPs and Spacers with a Tune after..I think it'll be fine..If not, I'll remove the BOPs..Its only 65 bucks..not like its even expensive.

Exactly! My type of guy right here. I have to wait for my spacers to come unfortunately. Is there any need to disconnect the battery when dealing with these two bolt ons?

you can disconnect the battery if you want to try to reset the ECU, i did with some mods didn't with others. over time your car will learn the new part anyway, all depends on your level of patience

and yeah not like the BOPs are going to kill your pocket. ..try them out and come to your own conclusions

From: Boston Ma,
I personally didn't disconnect the battery because I didn't want to lose any of my car audio data my system is all computerize it took me over 3 months To have it programmed it's strictly sound quality anyways I just did the reset that Cory walked me through it was pretty easy after several tries its definitely worth it it seems like it made my engine louder but In a good more aggressive but when u get to the step with the coolant hoses to make it easier and less messy buy some small strong clamps that's what I did and I had only a drop of coolant drip. Hit me up if u need help with it aight!

Yeah Man..I appreciate it. I might need some help unless that process you mentioned is in the directions that come with the Spacers? I don't have a audio system..just the auto locks and windows thats about it. I might just disconnect the battery. Several tries..is it that hard? Thanks for the review..that's exactly what I am looking for! Clamps..could you recommend me a place and what to buy? Thanks..Take it to a PM if you can!

From: Boston Ma,
well i used two needle nose pliers to clamp the hoses down it wasn't on the manual so if u get something that'll clamp down a hose probaly about 3/4" inch wide basically ur taking the two hoses and connecting them together so that it continues the loop the kit provides a brass coupling and two little black rubber caps to place over the nozzles that the hoses where connected to. i installed it with my friend and we took our time and did it right after all patience is perfection send me a private message if u need a hand..

Thanks again man. I appreciate it. Yeah Ghozt and I are boyz on the forum haha! and Cory has already been talking to me. My Philosophy is to get both BOPs and Spacers installed..and any other performance mods that I have left (Which are pretty much none) and then do the Tune and My special surprise of course! Thanks again.
