When I do replacement pads I may get EBC red stuff, I had Hawk HPS pads on my 06 with cross drilled and slotted rotors, the stock rotors were crap, the hawk pads added a much improved bite in the stopping distance on the car.

My 09 still has factory pads and rotors, the brakes feel luxury smooth at 30k, but im looking for a touch more stopping grip without having to really lay into the brake pedal

Eventually I will go big and replace everything with a BBK http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...35724.98.79.48

stick to oem pads. I tried to save a few bucks by going ebay cheapo pads and will never do it again.

and don't turn the rotors if you have zero problems with them.

repair shops will tell u to turn the rotors whenever you put on new pads even when you have no issues. This is exactly when the rotors go bad because they needlessly thin out the rotors and once that happens it will easily start to get weak warp.

if you are using your rotors normally with normal oem brake pads, there is no reason you should ever have to replace the rotors. The pads should never over-power the rotors and cause them to warp.

warping is triggered when the repair shop themselves charge more for a service that isn't needed.

In my opinion i would get EBC Drilled slotted rotors and get MONROE brake pads from amazon $30 (which is what our OEM PADS are minus the $80 price tag nissan charges) i have 130,000 miles trust me =)

If you decide not to change your rotors i would ONLY cut them (at pepboys for $32) once you start getting vibration or feel the brake pedal moving vigorously under load

From working in the Lexus service dept, I have learned alot. I would go back with the oem pads. Usually with the aftermarket ones, they will tend to squeal alot when coming to a stop.
I had a guy bring in his Lexus with the panoramic sunroof because the front part of the sunroof was making a flapping sound at hwy speeds. Come to find out, he had the windshield replaced with a aftermarket one and it didnt seal propertly against the roof. Had he went back with the $1200 Lexus windshield(which I think it crazy for a windshield) he wouldnt have had this problem. Just using this as an example.

my car has 17k on it, Rotors are Fine. Was going to replace pads just because one side (pass side front) squeels once in a while.. and was hoping to add some better stopping power..
the stocks just feel as tho there poor with stopping power, unless you Jam on the brakes...they seem to like to drift alot i feel...

who has Oem front pads cheapest online ???

I would ALWAYS stick with the Nissan genuine brakes. There are only two things that I will ever go to a dealership and purchase. The first is CVT fluid, the second is brake pads. They can tolerate some abuse, don't produce a lot of dust, aren't noisy and they are durable.

You can purchase genuine Nissan brake pads online if you look around. I'm certain they won't be more than a few bucks more than the Autozone or EBC or Hawk brands. May be less.

^^ Right on. Always use the Nissan OEM parts. Anything aftermarket will start making noises 6 months down the road.

On my old car, I use to used ceramic pads on oem rotors and they worked great, less brake dust and stopping power.

I was told if you are running Drilled/Slotted rotors you should use ceramics pads with them and stay away from Metallic pads with drilled/slotted rotors as you will warp your expensive rotors.
I did that and did not listen to my mechanic, a few month down the road the 250.00 I spent on PowerSlot rotors were garbage (This was on my old car)

Just made the mistake of letting a local semi high end repair shop put Akebono Pro Act Pads on the rears.

Its been 3 years since when I was deep in the nissan performance scene to recognize them as bad..and I blame myself more than I blame them.

Not just because everyhting was waaay over priced but these pads are optimized for lack of noise and lack of dust.
In other words NOT optimized for best braking.
Now i will have to thow theese overpriced and poor pads away and put on Hawks or EBC or MetalMatrix

They also sold me centric 102.40288 rotors as "premium" when they are mid range.
Except they were priced premium.

I know the consensus seems to be to get the OEM pads. But someone mentioned that the Monroe pads are the same as our OEM. I have one year left on the lease with no plans to purchase after lease-end. Car is driven primarily locally. What do you guys think? Should I buy OEM pads at double the price or get the Monroe or other cheaper brand.
