this is interesting...and if your spending $5,000 in mods and not getting a TUNE after....your not a smart modder... the $550 you spend on a tune you save that money on gas in 1 year

i agree completely. if you're modding for more power then you should have a tune at the end of your list or you're wasting your money just to make your car noisier. and you nailed it because im burning so rich now my exhaust tips are black; can't wait to uprev tune and lean that out so my mileage will go up for my commute.

then again reaching $5000 in bolt-on performance mods would be hard to get to with this car unless you just got insanely ripped off on everything you bought or were looking at FI (which I know you have at some points in the past)

cat-back exhaust: $1000 (on the high end)
intake: $300 (again high end)
intake spacers: $170
Stillen UD pulley+belt: $190
Y pipe: $300

install for everything: $500-800 (again high end)

now if you're talking the rest of the money spent on handling/braking/cooling mods that have nothing to do with power like an oil cooler, BBK, sway bars, etc then you could maybe hit 5 g's but these can be done before or after a tune since they're not involved obviously but still very good upgrades

But I spent $5,000 on a Hood Scoop. It gives me 1000 WHP and 879 torque!

This was probably the best post I have ever made. I am so happy.

For 5k you could just install a turbo and be over 400whp and be done with it. Then again having a fast fwd car is kinda useless.

Wow racing cars without tunes?? People buying expensive mods that barely add hp?? Not on maxima.org!!!

BTW It is obvious all this discussion is about road racing. Not once has anyone mentioned trap speed, 1/4 times, track prep, tire psi, hitting the water box or not, ANYTHING that would make one believe this was done on a strip or track.

After 80 he pulls cars on me? That isn't going to happen on a strip at your power levels, lol.

Just because the word highway isn't in a post common sense says everyone are talking about racing on the road.

edit: I have a wideband and afc for sale in sig if anyone would like to tune their cars and actually get HP from the installed mods. Oh and then you can run a 4'' intake and actually gain HP from an intake vs just making noise.

you nailed it, everyone in this thread is being vague probably for a reason. go figure the guy with the name "FastnFuriousMax" talking negatively about performance mods on a FWD Maxima...

Wow where is the hate coming from? Did you get all butt hurt about the 5k turbo comment or the fact someone didn't bother tuning?

You guys are very mature to start with those 'crap' posts. Congrats, you just made yourselves look like teenagers posting on the internet.

This thread had fail written on it from the 1st post...Go back to talking about a stock maximas losing to another basically stock maxima. It is a very exciting topic. So many variables!

Ghozt: I am glad you agree that everyone is being vague because it's damn obvious. At least pretend and start the thread off that this was done on a closed course, strip, etc.

IBTL.

And congrats, you made yourself look like an idiot. You really came into a thread posting how you don't approve of the topic/discussion and expected a warm response? Go post in some other threads running your mouth about the topic and see how that turns out for you too. You sound like a great addition to this forum, glad to have you bro! Although judging from your personality you belong on the Honda forums, that's usually where you can find the other jack@sses.

Sigh.

I commented on the fact none of you even tried to cover it up. That is all. I really expected more. Don't get your panties in a bunch over my post.

I think the org's rules about street racing are ridiculous. Who doesn't? Why they are still in place after IB bought the org I don't know.

As far as people being idiots: The only idiots I see are those who go down to the level of insulting people and calling them names instead of having an intelligent conversation to discuss your point of view.

I probably was a little rude but this thread sounds like it is about basically stock Maximas street racing which isn't the most exciting topic around.

You like street racing, so do I(to an extent). Making it blatantly obvious on a forum where it is not allowed is stupid and just throwing it in the moderator's faces and will only end badly for everyone involved. If you want to talk about calling people names and who the idiot(s) are look at all of your own posts and comments and the fact none of you even tried to sugar coat it. If the OP had said this was all done on a closed track or at the strip the mods wouldn't have posted in the thread and would have left it alone.

Dude, unless you have recently stepped your game up, you have a 4TH GEN MAXIMA! Sounds like someone is trolling.....and possibly wishing.
