New member with lots of questions!

Hello everyone, I am happy to join this forum as I just purchased my 2012 Max SV less than a month ago. I love it so far, but I am looking to add some additional electronics and I have heard rumors that I would love confirmation about. Firstly, I heard there is a tuning chip I can acquire that would give a 50-60 HP boost without mods. Is this true? If so, does it affect my warranty and where can I get one? Next, I run "parking sensors", so I will be looking to install these soon. I would love to do the installation myself, but I got it professionally done on my last car because I didn't feel comfortable messing with the car's electronics. I still don't really, but if someone has lots of know how in this department, I could probably do it with some instruction. Only thing I'd really need help with is connecting the CPU to power and having it turn on and off with the car. Anyway, that's all for now. Again, I'm glad to be here and look forward to discussions with everyone on here!

So far this is a very inviting forum . I don't see that that question was so idiotic because engines can be and are electronically limited, so it makes sense that there would be a way to reverse this if it were the case on this vehicle. So far, my first experience with this forum is not a good one; it's a wonder any new members stay if you treat them all in this way. If I'm so dumb and insignificant to this forum, just tell me and I'll gladly resign my membership or just never come back.

Just having fun. Congrats on the Max.

If you really want performance gains. Get a cat-back, CAI and headers (if a company makes headers). After you do bolt-ons, then get a custom tune so the ecu can make the most out of the bolt-ons. You might be able to gain 20-30 HP.

Maybe I was a little over-sensitive and/or took things in the wrong way, but it kind of seems like everyone so far has acted like I asked the dumbest question ever.

Seems like a whole lot to do for not a whole lot of boost. Hardly seems worth it...

290 HP out of a N/A 3.5 is pretty good. Most modern engines are already pretty efficient.

Sweet. Thanks. I'm satisfied with the power output, I just figured if there was some quick & easy computer mod that didn't void the warranty then why the hell not.

In order for them to void the warranty on a mod, they have to prove that the mod did damage to whatever needs repaired. So if you get a cat-back, and your transmission goes out, and they refuse to fix it, they have to show how the cat-back damaged the transmission.

I dont know of any N/A engins that you can just "chip" and make some 30-60 hp gains.

Now a FI engine is a diffrent story.

Welcome to the forum. I guess the folks were trying to tell you to AVOID the chip. I don't have a lot of info, but Uprev is one of the companies for tuning...

Car Addict's wheelie post made laugh out loud.

But yeah, aside from bolt-ons for little gain, there isn't much we can do aside from visual modifications.

The low sales of the Max (comparatively) coupled with the potential to damage the CVT makes the tuner market nill, I would guess. If we ever come across a real chip, everyone on here would be calling in their order.

In the meantime, I'll just pretend my roof spoiler adds 15hp.

Agreed - check out the FB groups if you haven't yet they're great.

OP - stay away from any "chips" that claim to add ridiculous gains to cars (especially if they're under 100 bucks). first off - if the manufacturer could add a little PoS chip to increase power/mileage like that they probably would have included it with the car. second - all the chips usually do is lie to your computer about certain sensor readings getting it to behave differently (like lie about temps or whatever) so i personally wouldnt touch it.

if you want more power get some bolt-ons and get an Uprev tune, but overall you'll be spending a few G's for some power

My7thGen and the A35 group...I personally don't care for what they have to say..The people on this forum are much more friendlier, with a few wise guys here and there!

I always do my own thing..that's just me though.

Yes, chips are not realistic for our cars..its BS

I would avoid chipping your max all together. If you want a power gain go with some things everyone mentioned above. Get a cold air intake, and full exhaust and headers. Best thing to do for headers is to get someone who REALLY knows what they doing to make a custom headers for you. Other then that unless you find a maxima guru who can custom build a chip for a maxima which will be better then those of a Nissan engineers who spends years developing them dont touch it. So yea no chips and welcome to the forums bro
