Has anyone every tried or heard of anyone trying to fabricate or install hood vents or scopes to get rid of some the heat that the maxima naturally produces as it runs? I was wondering because i wanted to put a SRI in my 09 maxima but have heard stories of the heat really making it tough on the SRI... If anyone knows anyone or has any ideas please post and pass the word along...
I've seen vents done before. Not a bad look but the entire front, sides and rear was completely custome along with the fenders so it looked good.
I wouldn't do either on an otherwise stock looking Maxima.

someone else on here has functional NACA ducts on their hood of their 7th gen, GT-R style. i dont think anyone who has done them has done any testing afterwards to see how much it decreases air intake temps though

If anyone has custom vents on the front of their Maxima Hoods..I'd love to see them..I have a little project I am working on for the Spring..Nothing crazy..but Vents do seem like another good Idea.

I think this would be my main concern for the mod. Sure, it looks cool, but it should also be functional imho. I would think maybe a naca duct leading to a short ram intake would be somewhat helpful if anything. Originally Posted by Ghozt

In any case, essjun's maxima is still one of my favorites seen on these forms, hands down.

Thank you for the kind words, all.... As soon as we de-freeze these scoop will be functional... i am yet to go to the pro shop and see what they recommend... at this point there are two options : 1 to reduce the engine bay heat...2 to reduce the air intake temp... will see what they think is more beneficial
I'll keep everyone posted on my page when time comes

Yeah I love his Max too, I think he's competing with me for most mods trollololOriginally Posted by Shipwreck

...They call me..Gatsby in my area.
I like Everyone's car because everyone has something different. I don't like the ducts per say..Not my style. However, I am certainly looking for a few pictures of vented Maximas

This is the idea anyway. Sure we may have Stillen Lips and Eibachs in common, in the end we're going to add our own flair depending on desire, preference, and of course skill and resources.
But speaking of functionality, I wonder how much the Stillen Lip helps or hinders performance (pressure factors primarily). I'm hoping it helps decrease drag but as it should.
I like the idea of vents but they have to be subtle (or at least work with the design) and functional for me. I'm sure the 7th gen could benefit from efficient heat dissipation, as essjunin noted. The engine does stay hot for quite a while after a drive.
I remember reading that thread where a forum member brought his car to the track and overheated his brake fluid and trashed the rotors. On top of upgrading the brake system/fluids, I'm sure ducting would help as well or even canards could help with that (but those likely wouldn't look to great... hehe).
Ah well, there's so much that COULD be done. Wish I was great at "photoshopping."

Regarding scoops/vents... recall there was a kid on here from Emirates? where he did a complete revamp of the front, rear end and the hood...now what he did was he made the hoood flat across in the very front...when he did that those curved areas created pockets...so here is an idea...these pockets can be used as vents...look at Lotus Elise ...same scoops but pushed all the way to the nose of the car
