I know on many transverse mounted V6 engines it's the aft 3 plugs that are a pain to access.

Just wondering... how many miles on his 09' and why does he want his plugs changed out?

Has 80k ...
Popular to belief. I have changed factory plugs after 60-80k on many new cars and noticed significant wear on plugs.. At 80k it can't hurt to replace them

I would agree. I was thinking before 90K myself regardless of what the maint manual might say.
You can risk pulling the head threads if you leave them in too long.

I have changed plugs on many cars, many times I have read if plugs go past a certain mileage the plugs become harder to remove, after removing several sets of platinum/iridium plugs at or past 120k I figured it was all made up, plugs are not cheap, so I would leave them unless you have fuel/performance issues

It is not necessary to replace iridium-tipped
spark plugs as frequently as conventional type spark plugs because they last much longer. Just go with the factory recommendations. Also, if they become defective they are covered unde rthe emission warranty. If you worry about stripping the threads use penetrating oil overnight.

I changed mine at 100,000. It is a pain but if you have a few hours and like working on your own, well worth it for the satisfaction of a job well done. To tell the truth, I did NOT see any wear or detritus on my plugs at 100k and feel they could have easily gone 150-200K. Just be prepared. You may or may not want to replace the intake manifold gasket....and some hook or duck nose pliers (or a small child) is needed to attach the hoses against the firewall!!!!!

Starr is on-target. If you aren't having performance/economy issues, don't sweat it. But if you like working on your own, it is a nice project. (lots of cussing, screaming, etc)
