Question about Interior and Licence Plate LED's

I know there are several threads about LED mods, but...

Has anyone found a bright, pure white (no bluish tint) LED light bulb for the interior and/or license plate bulbs? Everything I read, and most pics that I have seen seem to have a slight or even very blue tint to them. I am hoping to find a bright, "Lexus" or newer "Acura" type of white light for a 2012 silver max with black interior.

I already tried some inexpensive eBay LED's (seller comfortwheels, also sells on Amazon), and anyone who says that they are brighter than the stock bulbs in the interior are kidding themselves. I can hardly even see the radio controls, so for now, I switched back to the stock bulbs.

Advice and/or pics would be appreciated.

Are you serious??? Another one?? Search Search SEARCH!!!!! I think this is literally the 4th times this has been brought up in the last few days.

You and one other person are looking for the same thing, most of us are running 6000k cool white bulbs. Those have bluish tint to them.

You probably won't see pics of what you're looking for so you'll have to pony up and buy the LED's and try them for yourself. 5000k is as pure as it gets. 4300k is warm white similar to what's already there.

Here's the link http://www.v-leds.com/194-168-158-LE...orLanding/true

Sorry if I offended you by asking a question. Trust me, I have searched and searched here and lots of other places. I just can't seem to find anyone who can confirm that they have a clean, bright, pure white look. If it doesn't exist, so be it, but I figure most people stop posting on threads after they have found what they are looking for.

I do appreciate the link though. Guess I was not aware that small LED bulbs are also sold with kelvin ratings. Thought that was just for headlights and/or HID kits.

Sorry I don't mean to thread jack, but I posted it on another thread and didnt get an answer.

At night, I am getting this soft glow from the LEDs in my map lights and rear dome lights when the switch is on the "Door" position, however, it turns off completely when its in the off position. I don't wanna waste the bulbs and have them die out completely if they are gonna have a soft glow on at all times (even when the car is off) in the door position. Is there a fix to this? anyone know what causes that if it happens to anyone else?

Thanks, and again sorry for the thread jacking

that's normal with the cheap LED arrays.

Thank you! lol. I don't take offense to anything at all. I don't think people are truly searching. It is easier to just post a new thread but why waste yours and other peoples time to answer something that's been asked a million times. haha

why are there like 5 threads on this started in the past week, don't people know how to use the search function?

The reason there are five threads is because there obviously aren't any clear, precise answers to the various questions being asked. Instead, people want to ramble on, change topics, BLAME PEOPLE FOR NOT SEARCHING, etc, etc. I was under the impression that forums were meant to help each other, not give people a hard time about creating new threads. Are we taking up too much internet space by asking a question? I am sure all of you were new once and had questions that you couldn't find answers to. If you don't want to provide an answer and simply want to give people a hard time about creating new threads, all you are doing is cluttering things up...again. If you know the answers to the questions being asked (and not just in this thread), it would be a lot easier to simply answer the question. Otherwise, we are adding another thread full of useless comments by experienced members who us noobies are relying on to provide the answers.

As stated in my first post, I searched, searched, and searched some more, but as the first responder said, most people here are using 6000k, slightly blue lightning, which is what most of the threads discuss. I am hoping to find pure white light, which is why I asked the question.

Hope I didn't take up too much internet space here. And more than anything, I hope to learn some things here that I may be able to help others with in the future.

creating new threads on something that has been addressed countless times just makes you look lazy. i have no idea how you could have used the search function and not found the information you're looking for; sounds like you are searching for the wrong words. calm down though buddy, freaking out when people tell you to use a function of the forum DESIGNED to help you find information is a little silly. you're not even really asking a Maxima question, you're asking a question about light temperatures and what color they actually represent in action which can probably be most effectively answered using a simple Google search.

Sorry to get frustrated, but I am so tired of searching for helpful answers, and when I click on the threads that seem like they would contain answers, the first several replies always seem to be experienced members giving instructions on how to use the search function. Just seems like it would be just as quick to provide a helpful answer, or even a link to a helpful thread, regardless of how many times the question has been asked.

That said, I have only been a member here for a month, and there is certainly lots of helpful information. I am sure I will learn a lot, and hopefully one day be able to provide some helpful answers to other noobs.

And on another note...specifically to Ghozt, your Max is pretty awesome, and a lot of the reason I chose silver in the first place. Wish I had the lighting knowledge and skills you do. I am 39 years old with a wife and a couple of kids, and well past the time to do mods, but you make it tempting. Love the halos and LED strips. Very nice work.

I also apologize then, we try to direct people to the search function because despite the forum basically being a big box literally every thread about everything thrown together you can still sometimes find what you need.

to answer it simply, 4300k is a yellowish white, 5k is a white white, and 6k is a cool slightly blue white. the lower you go the more yellow, the higher the more blue/purple

thanks for the compliment. i got started on these forums bro, before this i only knew basics like intake install and amp/sub install. if you ask specific questions this place is great, if you ask something very common like about LEDs or what intake is the best often people will direct you to the search function for sake of not repeating themselves - we're really trying to help when we say that because often people haven't even tried the search yet.

and trust me when i got the Max, i didnt have any plans besides basics for it. it keeps growing and growing, and this place doesn't help because people keep posting up new stuff motivating you to keep going. and man you are nevre past the time for mods, customizing a car is like customizing a house - buy the frame you can build with and make it your own. overall im very happy with this car, thing is rock solid and is probably the best DD you could grab. not everyone is satisfied with it performance-wise due to the CVT and what not, but I'm a CVT fan minus the inability to dyno the damn thing.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have joined in the first place. In the few weeks that I have had the Max and been reading these threads, I have considered lighting upgrades, the stillen front lip, and new tires (considering Nitto Motivos to replace the terrible Eagle RS-A's...hydroplaned in them on my way home from picking up the car). I have owned five Max's, with my last one being a 2004, but I told my wife that as soon as our kids are old enough to climb in and out of their seats, I wanted another one. So, I came out of an Armada to this. Love the car, but afraid of how much money I am going to spend making it my own, but keeping it classy

Anyways, thanks for the temperature tips. Should help me in my search for the pure white look that I am hoping for.

Nah man you're good. I like to think that Ghozt and myself are one of the more active guys on the threads. I don't mind helping people since I just like Ghozt have experience in certain areas and aren't afraid of throwing blood sweat and $$$ into our cars and sharing our new projects.

With that in mind maybe you kinda see how we get when the same question is being asked over and over. The LED question has def taken off in the last few days. But nobody has stepped up in buying pure white LED's for their max's. Will you be the first to report back to us??

Anyways man, welcome aboard to the forums.

Ghozt...after SEARCHING another thread, I noticed that you mentioned you have 5k interior lights. Do you also have them for the licence plates? Any chance you have pics of either the interior or the plates? Using the link to the V-LEDs site that 20_Maxima_10 left, I think I am going to give the 5k, 360 bulbs a shot when they come back in stock. Are these the same bulbs you have?

I also found a guy on youtube with a G35 who says his are 6k bulbs from V-LED, and his look very white and bright in his video, but I am not sure if that is just the camera he is using.

Do you have a link to the 6K's you got from amazon? Do you also have them inside and if so, do they have a light glow when your switch is on "door" like my vleds do?

No mine don't glow. I gave the link to a co-worker and he ordered some last week and he told me they are now coming from china. I ordered them last Oct. so it could be a possibility. I will talk to him in a minute and get back to you.

he said his haven't came yet and he ordered some other ones off amazon and they came this past Saturday. They are for his genesis coupe. So I can't really speak on the ones he got since they are brand new and not from the place I got them from.

Yeah if you look at it at night when the switch is in "Door" position, you can see all of the LEDs have a soft glow to them, you can tell the bulb isnt completely off. However, when I turn the switch to "off", the bulbs completely shut off (which should happen when its in the Door position and the doors are closed. I will try to take a picture tonight

Nope mine don't do that at all....that's strange. I wonder if you're the only one experiencing this.

some LEDs do, it's *normal* for some setups to do this...it's because there is enough current flowing through to light the LED up, albeit slightly.

It's residual current, nothing to really worried about. The LEDs that do this don't have the same resistance value built into it, that's all. LEDs draw so little power anyhow...

Luckily I didn't pay too much for these and got them from vleds clearance for $3.35 a pair. Next time I am going to have to find ones with good resistance valves.

Harsh...Are your interior bulbs also the 6K from VLED? If so, would you mind taking a pic or two of the interior from outside an open door? I am trying to see how much the lights light up the interior. I bought some cheapies and they hardly light up the interior at all, even though they were advertised as super bright. I could honestly hardly even see my radio controls.

Guess I should also ask...if you have the same bulbs in the license plate and interior, do the license plate bulbs also glow when the car is off?

So jealous. Could you keep me update on if your co-worker ever gets the ones from China? And if they are the same as yours? Thanks brah!

Here are some pics, honestly I don't think they do justice to actuality. In person, it feels lot bright than the pics.

Thanks for the pics. Looks nice and bright.

So do your license plate bulbs also glow when the car is off, or any other lights for that matter? Or is it just the overhead bulbs?

Edit...Are all interior bulbs, license plate bulbs, and the trunk bulb (14 all together) the same size?

Hmm good point on the license plate lights, I went and checked. They do not glow when the headlights are off, and only come on when the headlights are on. As for the interior lights, yes all of them have a glow even when the car is off and switch is on "door", I just went and left em on "door" and locked the car to see if they glow for just a short amount of time and then turn off, or if they stay on all night. Yes all of the interior bulbs, trunk and license plate bulbs are 194s. Idk about the glove box, and I know the vanity mirrors have festoons
------------------------------------------

Thanks 20_Maxima_10, thats a sick deal with free shipping! And yea I'd like to see pics of yours, thanks!

Yeah, I bet the brightness is the same...... just different cameras probably make it look different. But i'm just that most of them are the same brightness, the the color changes how bright they are. cuz both ours are 5 led bulbs.

Yeah, I love the white LEDs.

Waiting for more LEDs to come in so I can get the cluster and rear seat controls done. Can't wait to see the rest of the orange gone!
