Poor design

This has been discussed a while back I believe ....I just hate the combination of a small keyfob and what seems to be a massive black hole in between the seat and armrest. I usually can find my key as i have my house key on the ring but recently i lost just the fob down there. Searching for 10 mins moving the seat all to no avail. Any advice on how to prevent this? Has anyone tried putting a towel or some block in that space?
I did learn two things---you can lock the doors with the metal key with the fob stuck down there in the car AND there is some sharp metal to wound you when searching under the seat

Well my key fob never needs to leave my pocket and when I'm wearing loose fitting sweats I put them in the cup holder.

Same here except if it's loose fitting pants/ shorts such as gym shorts or pants then I put it in the slot to the left I think this helps to not "loose" it in the car

It took me about 3 days before I learned not to take the keys out of my pocket. Old habits die hard.
I now use the manual button on the door handles to lock and unlock the car.

LOL. This has got to be one of the best features of modern cars. Take away my nav, take away my HIDs, but don't take away my proximity key

Heck yeah. My wife's Acadia has a "regular" physical key. I frequently leave it in my pocket, only to have to dig it out when I remember there's no push button start.

I just leave the keys in my pocket or in the slot.

But on a similar note, my wife has a similar problem with my car.
  • There's basically a small gap between the console and the seat - not big enough to get a hand in.
  • My wife knits.
  • We commute together.
  • She frequently drops her knitting gear - needles, stitch keepers, etc. - between the seat and the console
  • Cursing ensues (at me for buying this car).

The only way to prevent losing stuff there is to buy a car with a bench seat. Bucket seat+console=gap. Ya just gotta live with it.

Keep the k eys in my pants or in the cup holder as the Opener guy stated. It's pretty funny when I drive other cars and I go to press push to start, there is none :X
