Moisture in taillight

On occasions, after damp weather I notice a slight bit of moisture in the back corner of my taillights. It's more like a fogging. I've got a 2012 premium. Anyone else experience this?

Should not be doing that at all. Take it to the dealer and have them fix it ASAP.

Have the exact same thing on the exact same place/side on my 2012. Must be a production problem.

Makes you wonder what the replacement light will be like? Can anyone say how their replacements have performed?

^ So far it has held up... i am not sure why the 7.5gen tails getting moisture in them but its starting to be common could be a design failure maybe? (clear lenses) or changed gaskets etc... who knows.

How'd you manage that? I pushed the issue pretty hard with the dealer I finally got my car from. They kept coming back telling me it was a normal part of the ventilation.

I was and still am a bit skeptical about this. But given that I'm eventually swapping my tails (for smoked OEM's) it's not something I'm gonna lose sleep over.

7.5 Gen = what? 2012s and newer?

Either way ... this is not specific to any particular year, it's universal. When I was shopping for Max's a few months ago just about every used Max (2009 - 2011) had a little moisture in not just the tails but also the side markers as well. Some were worse than others.

Anyways, I meant to grab the TSB from the dealer when they tried to put in the claim to Nissan but forgot.

Does anyone have a PDF of this? I couldn't find the entire bulletin.

I have already had both rear replaced, and am getting the driver side taillight replaced again. One service person tried to tell me about the TSB and mine looked like the pic above . I told them you could put a TSB for whatever the hell you want, but that is unacceptable to me. By the way my lights look like that just sitting in the sun. I don't even have to drive it. So far after 2500 miles we are on 3 replacement tail lights, 1 replacement side mirror (moisture), and 1 replacement driver side wiper nozzle (doesn't work). I am waiting for the parts now. So next saturday I am getting taillight, mirror, and nozzle replaced. All on a brand new car. Ridiculous.

I'm waiting to hear back from the dealership... should be Tuesday. I have had my Maxima for less than a month and have already had moisture in the taillights on at least 3 separate occasions.

Good luck! If i drive for more that say 15 minutes at a time, I would say that mine would fog up daily.

Well, we've had rain since I picked up my Maxima and then last Thursday, it snowed. I took pics of the moisture and sent to to the dealer. The last time they "dried" them out and told me that if it happened again, they'd order me new ones. The email was forwarded to the service manager and I should hear something Tuesday. From what the salesman and sales manager told me, Nissan is fully aware of the issue. Hopefully, they have the problem fixed.

It is definitely an issue, but they are not all bad. One of my replacements has never fogged/shown moisture at all, while the other does constantly.

I have my 2012 inside the garage thus I dont experience this issue. I think I should start parking outside and leave it overnight to see if I have this issue.

Mine is garaged at night and is fine, but by the time I get to work is fogged up.

Left mine outside last night and no moisture. When I got to office I checked it again and still nothing. Maybe mine will develop some time in the future.

My tailights are nowhere nearly as bad as these. Mine had more of a slight fogging in the very corner. It occurred after a long drive on a very damp day. I took pictures to show to the dealer. They explained that they really can't make the tailights completely airtight which makes sense when you figure that you have the sockets inserting into the housing. They went on to say that slight fogging in a corner in damp weather is considered normal. It should go away after a few minutes after turning on the lights. All made sense to me. If it gets any worse at least the dealer has a record of my initial complaint.

Yeah that's pretty bad. Mine weren't as bad as that either and they haven't fogged up since November, but it's also been wicked cold and dry here too.

I have the same problem with my drivers side rear tail light
2012 SV Sport with smoked tail lights
If it's a warm day then cools off in the evening the moisture appears
Will tell the dealer about it at next oil change

My '12 is on its second driver's side tail lamp. Dealer put it in last Thursday, and I washed the car on Sunday and noticed condensation right away..almost in the same identical spot as the last one.

I took it in today and the same service tech told me that some moisture is typical..I said yeah right, then why did you change it out the first time? I got an appointment this Thurs to get it replaced because this issue is unacceptable in my opinion.

the tails shouldn't fog up...there are electronics in there that aren't exactly water friendly

Well, I had an appointment this past Thursday to get my taillights replaced. I got there at 4:35pm (when I told them I would) and after going back and forth about my appointment being 4PM, I was told that they could not install them that day. The servide guy that made the appointment was conveniently off that day. I told the guy there that I told him I could not be there at 4 and was told that would not be a problem as they'd make sure they had someone on hand to install them. I was told it takes 45 minutes per taillight and would have to make another appointment. Mind you, this Nissan dealer is not local and I had already told them about the local dealer reneging on a deal that I made on a smilar car a few months back. After having a heated "discussion", they realized that the service guy, the sales guy, and the sales manager had all told me the same thing and they offered me me a rental car and I could pick my car up the next day. After some more "discussion", they agreed to deliver my car to me Friday. Needless to say, I have not been too happy with everything. I went against my better judgement the day I picked up the car as there was a little moisture in the taillights then, but they dried them out and assured me everything was fine. I had to call them Friday to check on my car and they finally delivered it right about the time I was getting ready to leave work.

We've had a pretty good amount of rain here as of late and thus far.... knock on wood.... no moisture in the new taillights.

My tail lights and my mirror side markers are both doing it and im pissed. Going to the dealership Wednesday. Also this just happened today... I got in my car to head to work today and about 10 min into my drive, a thick black line appeared on my stereo/ac display.

I was told it it has something to do with the change with the clear taillights. Nissan has a TSB on them, so contact the dealership.

I have seen the TSB, and least the visual representation portion of the lights. There is a "acceptable" moisture picture and a "my not be acceptable" moisture picture. Getting my fourth light replace tomorrow, and had one side marker replaced.

I don't believe any amount of moisture is "acceptable".
