Noticed this twice on my tailights right after I picked mine up, havent noticed since but next time I see it ill head to the dealer to fix it. Just had my drivers side mirror replaced because moisture got into the turn signal and apparently blew the bulb

Is this "acceptable" or should I pressure them to replace the taillights? I have a 2010 SV fully loaded with 11k miles.

Let me guess, a cold day sitting in the sun? It's not acceptable to me, but i am on my third pair on each side (newer version) and I don't know what to do about it. I can actually do it on purpose depending on how i park my car on a sunny cold day.

Well it was about 50 degrees yesterday and I washed the car and today it was 65 and sunny. My factory warranty expires in June but I'm in the process of purchasing a 96 month 120k Security Plus Warranty (got it for $1,045) and I'm not sure if I should go ahead and try to get it taken care of now or just wait and see what happens this spring as this is the first time I've noticed it since I just got the car in December...

Moisture in any light assemblies will eventually lead to burned bulbs and as such is not acceptable. Nissan need to own up to the fact that they have a defective design and fix it once and for all. Replacing the same design components is not a fix.

That amount of moisture (in the above pics) would likely be deemed acceptable by the dealer. I went to a Nissan dealership last November and just about every single Maxima (about a dozen) had that amount of moisture in the tail lights. Moreover a handful of those cars also has moisture in the side marker lights.

Moist tailights

I have a 2012 Premium and I have had both side mirrors replaced and they have been fine ever since. The amount of moisture in your taillight pics seems excessive to me. I draw the line at fogging versus droplets. You have droplets. Go to your dealer and have them check them out. If they refuse to replace then lean on them a bit. If that doesn't work, at least you have the problem documented as occurring during the warrantee period in case it becomes an issue later on.

Good point. Documentation is key.

X2.... I took photos and emailed my sales guy each time I had moisture in my taillights.

I dried my taillights out a few times by holding a hair dryer up close to the area where the moisture was... Just be careful and don't grab your wife's or girlfriend's industrial strength hair dryer and melt your taillights.

So I just went in for my 15k mile service and showed the service guy the pictures I posted above and he said he'd take a look. He came back 20 minutes later saying that they were ordering taillight assemblies for both sides. Does this mean that the whole light is being replaced?

That's what they did on mine.

So they replaced my lights today and I didn't really give them a good looking over before I left as I had a few errands to run. I get home to see that there are scratches on the passenger side light which is supposed to be brand new and a cut on the top edge of my bumper along with a half inch scratch that goes all the way to the metal behind the top of the light that you can see! I called the dealer but they were already closed!

There are NO other scratches on my car! It's in mint condition, will this be enough proof if it comes down to it if they claim they didn't do this? The service guy is a douche as it is..

That just straight up sucks. I'd be in the general managers office in a heartbeat.

Moisture in right tail light

I just bought a 2104 Nissan Maxima SV and I have only had the car for a week and I see moisture in right tail light. I called the Sales Manager at the dealer and they said to bring it in and they said it is not normal.

Then I think we're pretty much all screwed-- they're not going to redesign or produce replacement components for a car that they're replacing with a completely new car with for the 2016 model...

2014 maxima tail light condensation

I know this is an old thread but I bought my 2104 maxima 8 months ago brand new and I have had three passenger side taillights replaced and experience water droplets in both tail lights now. Talked to Nissan and the dealer I purchased it from and all simply say its acceptable and normal. Umm no I am a car enthusiast and have worked on/ been around cars all my life and that is def not normal or acceptable to me , esp on a 35k new car. No a single soul wants to replace it or even create a solution to this issue. I understand what the TSB says and my tail light fits that criteria but still getting no help from Nissan. Do any of you have a foolproof solution to this issue bc this is completely unacceptable?

I have a new 2014 and I was reading this same thread. Here is the TSB the dealer gave me.

I see moisture in one tail light every time I wash my car. It goes away after about an hour.

The next time they get moisture in them tell Nissan to replace them with what is in the 2009 model. I have never had the moisture problem and I live where there is 4 seasons, with temperature and moisture extremes.

When they changed the taillight colors after 2010 they could have went to a different manufacturer.

Tail light moisture

Yea that's exactly what I told the dealer, replace them with the 09-10 version (red vs clear) but they said they cant due to warranty issue with Nissan. I think they are just getting cheap and frankly its very poor customer service. So then I said ok, I will just take it to another dealer and they said your record is flagged for this reason and no other dealer will replace them due to this reason. These people are seriously P!@##$%^ me off.

Unfortunately your experience sounds pretty typical. The flagged thing may be a bunch of BS. I would just take it to another dealer.

The TSB seems to make sense, some fogging of the tail lamp is probably acceptable. Water droplets are not. I have noticed tail light fogging in other cars. Although in 16 years I never noticed it on my 4th Gen.

tail light moisture

I think I am going to try another dealership, maybe I will have better luck

Funny thing is I printed out the Nissan TSB and showed it to him along with the large drops of water clearly gathered inside the lens and he still commenced the same old speech. I told him with this type of customer service, I don't see how they are still in business.
