ABS Malfunctioning?

Hey Guys. I did a quick search into this problem I have been having but I couldn't find anything conclusive. It only happens at the most peculiar times. During the day my car sits outside (6:30 am to 3:30 pm). I drive to my other job without issue. I then work from 4 pm to ~9:30 pm. On my way home, usually early in the drive, the Brake Warning light comes on. After that the VDC Light and Slip Indicator Light come on and the Brake Warning light turnes off. This is all without me touching any buttons or engaging the emergency brake. I then try to press the VDC button to turn it back on but it remains off regardless. The strange part is that the VDC is actually off during this whole ordeal. This has only happened a handful of times and only seems to happen when then temperature is below -10C.

The only thing I could really find was someone saying this might be ABS related and sending faulty readings.

Anyone else have this happen? Is this just a simple fix?

if you're the original owner, is it still under the warranty?

I am the original owner, I bought it in April 09. I think the warranty that would cover this has expired yes?

what happens is the brake fluid level gets lower as your brakes get thinner and when your accelerating the brake light indicates a low brake fluid level because the sensor is in the front of the tank but by accelerating you pushed the fluid to the back.
lol close enough

moral of the story need new brakes my man

Brake pad levels are all good. I checked them myself about a month ago.

Just a thought, with this only occurring when it is below -10c, I am thinking some moisture may have made it into the system (brake fluid) or you are right at the edge in the reservoir and may have some condensation there. I would start with (over) filling (all the way to the top and then clean up what spills out when you put the top back on) the brake fluid reservoir to ensure the float is covered with fluid (if it is condensation in the reservoir, this should take care of it.) If I remember right, it does get a bit foggy at times up there in the cold!

However, if you got it fixed already, care to share what the issue was?

A couple of dribbles of brake fluid fixed a very similar issue for me.

you say you checked your brake fluid, but is it literally topped off completely? if not you will have this happen. very very common issue, top it off completely to eliminate that as a possibility. if it still is happening after you've verified your brake fluid is completely topped off at Maximum id take it to the dealer, could be something more serious.
