Rear Seat Control Question

I own a 2011 Maxima Premium and they discontinued the rear seat control after 2010, but I came across the 2010 rear seats with the rear controls and I bought it. I want to swap the 2011 rear seat with the 2010. I also got the rear seat cancelling switch also. The question im trying to find out is the adapter (wire/harness) that plugs into the rear control cancelling switch & is there another adapter I need that goes through the head unit also??? (someone please tell that also). I tried contacting nissanparts.com but they never answered my e-mails & they always busy on the phone. so if theres a nissan expert on this board. I would like to know where i can get the adapter for this or know the part number. I asked the guy that sold me the rear seat but he doesnt know nothing. he told me he just took it apart and thats it

You still having trouble getting information on this? I have a 2009 with rear seat controls. I'm surprised they would get rid of that. Only help I can give is to bump this thread.
It's always harder when you are doing something that hasn't been done by anyone else.

I believe your right about anyone that has ever done this. I might be the first. Thats if I can wire this thing up. I hope someone can help me out with this or at least give me some info someday

Have you tried Courtesyparts?

I have a 2012, so I have no idea what that rear seat controls are, but it sounds awesome. Also, the factory service manuals might help. I don't know if you looked at that yet.

Good Luck.

I have a 2010 Premium/Tech with the rear seat controls too. I like the option of letting rear passengers have some input. I will not get another Maxima since they keep subtracting features on their top of the line trims on the Max. I like the car but not enough since I want a regular shifting 6 to 8 speed trans instead of the CVT.

You may have to get the harness from the back to the dash to get this going. Good luck!

I agree with your post.. i didnt realize there were rear seat controls until after i bought my 2011. sometimes i wish i shouldve gotten the 2010 model. I do got the harness on the rear seats thats cut off.. I can connect that part.. but the rear control canceling switch need an adapter to connect it and im not sure if the radio head unit has one too?? im going to need to look through the service manual and see if i find something

I have a '09 with rear seat controls and I ALWAYS have it off. The controls allow the passengers in the back seat to turn the radio station, turn the heat/cool on, etc. Part of my reason for always having it off is because I have an 8 yr. old and a 6 yr. old. If the controls allowed for changes for only the back passengers, it would make more sense to use it more often. My two cents.

Keep in mind the rear seat A/C controls change the front passenger temp as well as the rear temp. To me, if the rear passengers could have an independent temp it would be worth it.

Well actually, in my 2009 the rear temperature controls affect passenger climate control. The front passenger vents and the rear center vent but not the driver's. So I'm assuming the 2010 is also that way..

If there were 3 separate temperature zones of course it would be better. But there is a cost for everything.
