SCCA - Autocross solo

Has anyone else tracked or brought their car to autocross?

I participated in my second event at SCCA Hawaii. I believe, with a very experienced driver, our cars can do pretty well.

Run 4 of the day was my best time.

It really was! I'm still on the fence about going again next month (it's kinda pricey). Quite an awesome way to see what our 7th gens are made of, though!

Around here it is $40-$60.

That's about right. It's $50 per solo here as a non-SCCA member, but some of that fee goes to your membership should you choose to sign up.

Thanks! I really hope more 7th gen drivers get into it. It'll be good to compare notes! I might post in the Autox section later. It'll be nice to get pointers from all the veterans.

Side question - that sounded like a Lindsey Stirling violin track, but I thought I was familiar with all her stuff, but I don't recognize that one.

Good catch! It's "Take Flight (orchestrated)" from her "Shatter Me" album, track 15. I wish I could say that song was planned. It was perfect for my first solo run (without an instructor).

Man. I should have taken that as a cue to do a google search earlier today so I could've listened to the whole album that I had no idea existed while working today.

Although, sometimes I'm glad I've a 45 minute commute to/from work ^_^

Heh, well you'll definitely have something to listen to on the drive home. It's an excellent album!

Used to autox my 5th gen back in '01

Shortly after went into road racing in the SSC class with a Neon

Won the Southern Pacific Region championship in the Neon and went on to an extremely competitive class Spec Miata

With a street driven FWD car expect your front tires to turn to shhhh from autox days. A stiff rear bar will help.

Thats great!!! I'd like to know. How does the car itself compare to the normal models people tend to autocross?

Also, are you driving in Ds or D?

Not gonna lie, our car is a boat. You definitely feel the weight transfers and body roll. It might get better with coilovers, but I'm glad at the very least the car is lowered on eibachs and has an upgraded rsb. I'd bet in the hands of a very skilled driver, you could get times comparable to maybe the wrxs, if not better, on that day. To compare, fastest times of the day were around mid 40 seconds (Lotuses, GTR, corvettes, 240zs, miatas, etc), slowest around 60-70. I went from 62 seconds to 56 on my best run. Need moar practice

I'm trying to get JbsMaxine to run his max since he's a bit of an autox veteran himself lol

Yeah, Kinda figured. Mine is a stock SV. The front and rear do their own thing. I've had a few opportunities to push the car on public roads but nothing like the braking, and turn in forces you can experience on a racetrack. This is a nice touring car, nothing else. Nissan never should've marketed this car as a "sports" sedan.

I've thought about bringing the car to New Jersey Motorsports Park just for some fun. My biggest fear is breaking the transmission...

Any luck with the Ghozt Max and those electrical issues?
