What a way to start the day.
We are having a terrible wind storm today, my sons portable basketball hoop blew onto the car this morning. I heard it from inside the house, I KNEW right away what is was.

Yeah, it was filled with water.....at one time. Apparently it leaked out. We haven't played b-ball since Sept. I'd say I found out the hard way.

It is times like this that I am thankful my Maxima stays in the garage except when in use, and I try not to use it when the weather is very bad.
We have had to keep our flags down the last few days. Winds gusting over 40 MPH tend to shorten the life of flags, even when they are at half-staff, where we had ours.
We were trying to finish our Christmas shopping Friday evening, had to park very far away (pavilion was mobbed), and we had to hold onto parked cars to make headway into the bitterly cold 30 MPH wind while trying to walk from the car to the stores.
Grandfather Mountain in western North Carolina recorded a wind gust of 84 MPH that same day.
We put our basketball goal on a 6" X 6" square steel post buried four feet into concrete, with the post itself filled with concrete in order to prevent vibration. The downside of this overbuilding is that any vehicle accidentally backing into our post while turning around requires major repairs, as there is absolutely no 'give' in that post.
I would think Amerikaner83 is probably fairly close with his $500 estimate. The entire hood must be sanded and repainted. Higher 'class' body shops may ask more than $500. Sorry about your damage, especially coming at Christmas time.
