Lowered 7th Gen - Stock Wheels

Hello Everyone!

I've been lingering around the forums for a bit, after buying my 2011 Maxima. All the info and posters on this site are awesome and helped me greatly when deciding on lowering my Maxima. I Went with the pro kit, looks great and I love the handling now!

I had a hard time finding some images of a lowered Maxima with stock wheels, so for anyone who wants to see how it looks before upgrading your wheels here are the pics after install.

Thanks for everything posters! Ill be running around this forum more often now!

Definitively,

I feel like this is how the car should have come standard!

I like the stock wheels, but I really want a set of the 370z Anniversary wheels, the fit on the Maxima is excellent.

Looks good!! I had posted up my drop with stock rims about a year ago. I guess due to my vague post, you couldn't really find it. Check it out.

Looks very nice... Add a sway bar and strut bar and your handling will improve even more...

The stock rims do look great. They look like they match your body color pretty well. I don't like the stock color against the dark slate color that I've got. I think I'd be much happier with my wheels if I had them painted/powder coated to match the slate. And if they were 19's or 20's instead of the 18's.

Looks great! I recently did mine as well and love the way it handles. Took a while to get used to though (speed bumps ). Does that say Toyota on the front license plate?

What size spacers are you using in that pic?

I just installed the Pro-Kit yesterday. The ride quality did not suffer as much as I thought it would. I came from using H&R's on my other cars, & I mainly went with them because of reading about the good ride quality. H&R's are not available for our cars yet, & won't be for a little bit longer. I actually called H&R this week & spoke with someone there. So I ended up giving the Eibach springs a shot.

You will feel the bump in the roads a little more., but I think the way the car handles, feels, & looks outweighs the small amount of ride quality that is given up. I had the bumpstops cut a small amount to give the car a little more suspension travel. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the end result.

I could have sworn I heard people on these forums have tried H&R springs. I might be wrong.

The Eibach pro-kit is pretty awesome though and I'm surprised as well how much they enhance handling.

I also thought I read on here somewhere that folks were using H&Rs on the 7th gen, but like you I couldn't find them anywhere for sale. One place I called, actually placed me on hold and called H&R to get an update on the expected delivery. H&R told him that the springs were still in R&D... Go figure.

Maybe it's just me but the prokit doesn't really look like it drops the car as much..?? If nobody pointed it out, I would have thought it was stock height. Does eibach make sportline for our cars? Those are a little lower than prokits.

Here's the measurements I got.

Stock Measurements:
Front Right - 28.25"
Rear Right - 28.25"
Front Left - 28.25"
Rear Left - 28.37"

After Drop:
Front Right - 27"
Rear Right - 27.25"
Front Left - 27"
Rear Left - 27.25"

It looks stock to the untrained eye, but I assure you you can tell if you look hard enough (or park next to a stock 7th gen). Gets rid of those wheel gaps nicely and gives the car a nice stance. Best part is I get the performance perk without sacrificing too much to high curbs/speed bumps (although, this has gotten harder after installing the Stillen Front Lip).

But yeah, if you want to go lower, Sportline or coilovers would be great.

I think I remember you mentioning this in the other thread you posted these numbers in ... but how many days after you installed them did you measure?

Think if you measured them now it might be lower???

I saw H&R springs for the 7th gen for sale here. And also didn't Stillen use H&R springs for their R&D Maxima?

You are correct. A part number even exists for the 7th gen but when I went to order them (back in 2011) from H&R they said they were not in production yet. I really wanted that extra drop in the front that you don't get with Eibachs. My wheel gaps look greater on the fronts than the rears with the Eibachs as the Altima/Max usually end up settling lower in the a$$ end, even with the stock springs.

I called H&R customer service & was told they are still in r&d. They expect them to be ready by late spring to summer time.

Did you change the shocks when you put the new springs on? Interested in doing this.

This is one of the nices drops I've seen. Can you let me know what springs you've used and what spacers? Do you still have the car if so how was your overall experience with these springs and spacers?

Oh he still has it alright but it looks NOTHING like it did in that picture. He now has one of the most heavily modded 7th gen maximas around and even has a turbo on his. To answer your question he had eibachs on his car then and I believe he had 20mm spacers upfront and 25mm on the rear but don't quote me on that.

Hey I'm in the process of trying to pick what lowering springs i want on my 7th Gen. I know i'm going to go with Eibach springs but i don't want to drop it to much if i cant raise it when i need it to be raised (winter most likely). Apparently the Eibach pro kit does a 1-1.25" drop and the Eibach sport line does 1.5-2" drop. Do you or anybody know if the sportline is going to low if i also want to throw on the Stillen front lip at the same time? and if wheel spacers might help the fitment a little bit? Or if the prokit is right where i should be at on stock wheels.

Just got a nice set of oem 19" wheels, what tires are you running on here? I live in Chicago so have to consider change in season.
