TPMS Leaking Air

One of my tires is leaking air around the valve stem on my 09 SV Sport 19's. I took it to my local tire place and they had me buy a repair kit with a new grommet. They installed that for free, but it didn't fix the problem. My guy there says the valve stem must be cracked or otherwise damaged inside the sensor and suggested that I replace the entire sensor unit because it's all one piece.

Where can I buy the TPMS sensor unit and will the dealer have to program it? My nearest dealer is over 50 miles away so if possible, I'd rather mail order the part and have my local guy install it, but if the dealer has to program it, then that won't be possible. Any help or guidance on this issue would be much appreciated.

you can purchase the sensor at most full serve tire shops. That can also program it to the car.

I purchased a used sensor for my nissan and had the tire shop program it for under $30.

If you purchase the sensor from them, they might include the programming.

I have the 09 sports too and im not sure if they have to program the new sensor. I know only nissan could program it on my 08 but not sure about the 09.

I love the feel of my 09 19's but DAMN those tires are expensive lol

Good Luck with the fix !

Yeah, I JUST put on two new Continentals last week at $260 each, so it seriously freaked me out when I had a flat. Thankfully, the tire is fine. It's just the valve/sensor.
