2009 Premium Max Backup Cam Issues

Hello everyone, just curious if anyone has ever had any issues with the backup cam. As of the last 2 weeks I have noticed 2 problems with it. Sometimes when the car is in reverse and the camera goes on it does one of 3 things.
1) works fine
2) is totally black with just the red/yellow/parking indicator lines
3) gets all scrambly like a tv with just black/white fuzz.

Im thinknig maybe it is because of the cold weather, but still it shouldnt do this. Anyone ever experience these problems? Thanks and happy new year.

I am going to assume the camera wires or the camera itself have become loose and/or frayed. Are you still under warranty? I assume this should be covered under warranty.

Next time this happens, if you have friends/family around, pop the trunk or give the camera a slight nudge or two and see where the problem lies.

I doubt it is under warranty. I bought it privately from someone out of state.

I might be wrong, but the Maxima comes with a 5yr/60k mile warranty. Hopefully, you're still in that time frame, and bring it in to a dealer. Worst case scenario, they tell you that you need to pay for repairs, in which case you can try fixing it yourself.

I don't remember what the rules for the forums are, so here:
Google "2009 nissan maxima factory service manual" and go from there.

Maxima has standard Nissan warranty -

36K miles or 36 months (whichever comes first) bumper-to-bumper except wear-and-tear items such as brake pads, rotors, battery, etc, which are expected to last at least 12 months, else the dealer will 'adjust', usually at no charge.

Power train - 5 years or 60K miles, whichever comes first. Power train includes motor, CVT, entire drive train, etc. (CVT for '09 and '10 has a ten year, 100K mile warranty)

As info for those few who may care, with some dealers, much can be accomplished by having a long-term working relationship. I have used the same dealer for 17 years, know the folks there well, always buy my Maximas from them and always use them for all recommended maintenance.

I also send them copies of the J.D. Power dealership rating reports I complete and return every other year, and write letters of appreciation after each well-done service trip. And I ask any prospective customers I send to my dealer to mention my name so my dealer will know I sent them. As a result, my dealer has made several involved and time-consuming 'adjustments' for me (replaced steering column motor, replaced Intelligent Entry system antenna, etc) at no charge after my warranty expired.

They take care of me, I take care of them. After dreading dealer trips from 1949 until 1995, I now look forward to visiting my dealer.
