Has anyone tried this older CAI on our MAX?

I did a search and nothing came up about using an older 2002-03 Injen CAI on our newer Maxima's. The engine size and placement are the same and the older 02-03 Maxima's had the same intake location.

I dont know if anyone has tried this for fittment. But if it doesnt work, I am sure Injen could refab their older model for us.... right? Just a simple email and maybe a buyers list with people who are interested... Anyways, what are your thoughts?

Ghozt is right, and when I looked there's not enough room below the stock cold air duct.

Looks like I need to do the work myself. lol
Im not satisfied with those 2 answers but thanks for trying.

I will be buying a AEM intake next month and I think some people from Arizona may have a 5th gen ingen intake.

Good luck! Let us know the results.

A friend of mine suggested trying the cheapo method and removing the lower part of the airbox. Might just try it for kicks

Cool thanks. Im not giving up on this. If I can find a way to utilize this CAI, I will pitch it to Ingen. Maybe get a free CAI for the work and testing. lol

If you look at the pics closely you can see that a lot of small tweaks have been made n the engine bay. Also the transmission is on the right side, and if I remember right, the cvt is wider so the intake pipe might not clear the cvt. I mean, you might be able to get it to work, go for it am report back to us.

yeah i mean we already tried answering him, guess he doesn't know a few of us spent a lot of time years ago seeing how to fit a CAI into the Max and only way to fit it was to remove the battery. this is why there is only 1 true CAI in existence and it is custom made and includes a battery relocation to the trunk. fact is no manufacturer is gonna make an intake that requires a battery relo so your only option will ever be custom

Ghotz, i recommend for you to read my original question on this subject. Ive done my research and there is nothing mentioning about this model of CAI I want to use.

So your answer is invalid. I dont want to build a CAI like yours.
dr 2010SV actually had a better answer than you. However, speculating an answer by simply observing and assuming isnt what I am looking for.

That is why. I will have to do the measuring and testing myself.

Measuring and testing?

It sounds like you will be modifying an existing CAI to fit our cars. Or as some might perceive it ... building a custom CAI.

Either way, it seems like you're upset with the responses that people have given. I don't think you should take it personally if you are. These cars have been around for several years and tons of people have explored installing a true CAI with minimal success. That said, I think people would be extremely interested in your results, so please don't take offense to people's responses.

this is why i find myself posting less and less here, people post questions and whine when they don't get the answers they want to hear.

i wont sit here and tell you its impossible because im sure if you look hard enough and settle for a thinner intake diameter on your pipe you'll find some way to snake it through somewhere. if you're still in the engine bay or near the radiator without fabricating a heat shield on one side you'll still be pulling in a decent amount of heat from the car. overall relocating the battery was pretty easy, and with all the room you can use a nice fat 3" or maybe even 3.5" pipe for your ID.

nobody is trying to rain on your parade or anything guy; go take your engine covers off, hell even pop your battery out just to get a better look at the chassis around there. there really isn't much space.

LOL... my feelings are no where close to being hurt. Ive probably been around these forums longer than both of you. I actually stopped using my original account once I bought my 05 Maxima so I am use to people crying and especially people who think they know it all or claim to have the only answer.

I took no offense at anyone's post. I just found a couple responses not acceptable. Now if I hurt those people's feelings, oh well... But I need facts.

Yes I can take covers off and look but its pointless without having some type of product to test width and height.

My original question was, has anyone tested a fittment on a 2002-03 Injen CAI on our newer Maxima's.... So far, I have not found an answer. That is why I plan on testing my self. Even it requires using a smaller pipe from a 3.0 VQ engine. Once I get something that fits, I can test further.

Hahaha, if anyone was on the fence about whether you're a douchebag or not thanks for clearing that up. So let me get this straight, you come online to a forum to ask questions then whine when people don't give you the answer you want and call them "know it all's"? So why are you here to begin with asking questions?

What you'll (very slowly albeit) begin to realize about whiny b!tches like you is most of the forum will just end up stop responding to your posts because you react like a pre-pubescent child. Good luck getting info in the future!

Kids these days...

Look kid, explain to me if you can, how do you interrupt whining?
All I said, "Im not satisfied with those 2 answers...."

The only person *****ing and complaining here is you. If you took your time and read my original question, you wouldn't look like a complete idiot on this post.

You said, "when people don't give you the answer you want and call them "know it all's".... LOL WTH are you taking about? Do you have A.D.D??

Go back and read again kid. I will put it simple for you kid. The first answer you gave me was out in left field. I wasnt looking to move my battery or asking if a fujita would fit inside a 7th gen.

If I ask you, what is your favorite beer. Will you say ketchup? LOL... That is what your original response "move battery" meant to me... LOL

Look kid, stop trolling this thread and move on. It is clear to me your feelings are hurt and you dont have the answer I am looking for.

Ghozt please, dont answer any of my questions in the future. Judging by your lack of reading skills and retarded responses, you would only be wasting my time.

clearly i struck a nerve by attempting to answer your question that there is no engine bay space but moving the battery will create room. do yourself a favor kid, spend more time investigating the answer to your question than arguing with people online and i bet you'll figure it out soon enough. like i said, best of luck. hope you sort out whatever attitude problem you seem to have with people giving you the answer you're not looking for.

Don't ask me why I'm jumping in, cuz I don't know. Lol

Ghozt has custom built the best intake that a 7th gen has in these forums, I think most would agree with that. Not only did he do that, he documented it very well, over a long period of time, has passed on pointers for anyone else who wanted to do something similar, and has posted testing/performance results for everyone to learn from.

That said, there's always more than one way to skin a cat. Sounds great if you want to build a new intake yourself, but you probably won't find many people on here who can give you a worthwhile amount of help about something that needs to be made custom like this. In fact, probably just burned a bridge with the guy who could help you the most.

Regardless, looking forward to whatever you come up with. Make sure you come back here and let us know how it's going and a pic or two of the final result. It'll be a real proud moment if you come up with something great, or a real humbling one if the plan fails. Either way, I'm excited to see what you come up with. I'll go ahead and challenge you to stick it out and let us know what happens in the end--lots of guys just disappear because that's the easy way out. We'll be awaiting more posts!

(Lol at the 'kid' remarks from both of you grown *** men)

Ryan31 - OMFG really? I mentioned in another post, i dont want to move my battery.

That is why this thread and question was raised by me.... If it doesnt fit, then i will leave the stock intake alone.

GUYS, Im not asking what CAI to buy or how to build one.... I just want to know if anyone has tried this older model of intake... Jeeeezus!!! lol

Stop giving me ketchup answers... lol

Serpent, thank you for taking the time for your post.

I have already researched and found Ghotz CAI thread awhile ago. Some good work but I dont want to go that route.

I decided to try this older CAI but wanted to ask if anyone has tried it since there is no history on any maxima forum.

One lucky end I have is Cattman. He lives in AZ and Ive met and spoke to him numerous times. Im sure I can pick his brain and a few 4th and 5th geners here in AZ as well.

I will keep everyone posted on this project.

Failed attempt to be a smart *** answer? Your head is so far up your own *** you can't see the problem is you took my "2 cents" on the subject and got all bent out of shape about it? All I got is a temper tantrum from you for trying to help. People like you need to just f*ck off, seriously. I'm done trying to help retarded asshats like you on these forums; for you to turn around and spit in people's faces when you came here begging for help to begin with is a joke in itself.

Digging this thread up because, well, it's hilarious.

OP, any progress on your intake? I challenged you (politely, might I add) to not just let this idea fizzle out. We wanna know how things have come along.
