Thumbs up Your opinions on Water Methanol Injection

So I've been reading and looking at water/meth kits for naturally aspirated engines and they seem like a great deal....clean carbon deposit, temp reductions and it increases octane mpg and hp. Dont see to many cons at this point....I didnt see any threads for the 7th gen regarding this. What do you guys think? anyone have experience with this on a naturally aspirated max? this link it to the kit Im looking at now http://www.snowperformance.net/stage...st-cooler.html

Thanks a lot.

You are really looking for trouble. Here are the negatives;
1. There are no blowers are superchargers for the Maxima
2. The engine is not designed for higher compression ratios.
3. The computer may not be able to handle to new scheme.
4. You will be the guinea pig for this experiiment

Last, you should not have bought a Maxima if you looking for a performance car

1. Dont need either, didnt mention super/turbo, the kit is designed for an NA motor...check the link
2. It doesnt create higher comp ratio, nor did I mention modifying the engine to run higher comp ratio, snow has kits for NA motors with less than 10:1 comp ratios...(see the link)
3. Ok thats an obvious concern Id look into further, thank you
4. Thats debatable but none the less a valid point.

Last, Not only is the Maxima marketed as a 4 door sport car (IE performance in most sane minds) but I didnt mention I wanted to build a performance vehicle either, just wanted some of the benefits (mpg increase, cooler temps) this kit hasd to offer. Thanks for your opinions and you time though.

I wouldn't recommend it, get a weekend fun car and throw some crazy mods like this on it

I say go for it. Snow performance is one of the best in the business. On my first new car....2003 Corolla, I installed a TRD supercharger and everyone else that had blowers on theirs was getting the snow performance h2o/meth injection. Everyone that had one loved it. I would say the real benefit would be in hot climates. Hot weather really zaps the power on these cars...like most I guess.

I say try it.
I was also interested in this mod but wanted more info from people that used it with our type of (NA) engines. From what I've seen it appears to be an "on demand" system instead of an "always on" setup. I also wasn't sure if you had to buy Snow's meth or if you could mix up your own?

The link says it can be used on an N/A car but it seems like its geared more towards a forced induction car. I would also be a little concerned about introducing water into my combustion chamber in an N/A car. If you are looking for increased MPG try a C.A.I., exhaust and a tune. I personally would avoid the injection kit w/o a turbo or blower

Well essentially h2o/meth injection is simply chemical intercooling. Although I guess it isnt really an INTERcooler on a NA engine.

And yes...it is an on demand system based on MAP.

The benefits on a FI motor are primarily SAFETY. Maximum timing advance while preventing preignition and melting rings and burning valves and...ya know...leaving parts of your motor laying on the road behind you.

I dont know what benefits are to NA engines aside from preventing preignition and spark knock and timing retard when pushing the engine to its limit when its hot as hades outside. The REAL benefits would be with mods.

I have to research this more.

And introducing water into the engine with a water/meth injector wont hurt anything at all. Water is a byproduct of fuel combustion anyhow. Its there with or without h2o injection.

Interesting thoughts guys, thanks....but I'm torn!!! Lol.....we'll see what happens, if I do it I'll let you know for sure. @WC9550 I'm definitely ordering my CAI this week...(it's a start) and I'm looking into tunes already just to pull a bit more power and more mpg...
