Need opinions and pics for those who have 70 or 50% tints

After being pulled over so many times for 35% tints, I took them off. I need opinions on 70% or 50% tints. Will it be light enough to avoid getting pulled over? I want some type of tint so that my interior stays cool during the summer and some type of UV ray protection because long exposure to the sun bothers my skin especially my face. I tried my eye doctor to give me a note but he was being a douche bag. Front tint is illegal in New Jersey but still i want some type of tint and avoid getting a ticket.

Interesting question in that i am just getting started with mods to my 2012 (black with black interior) and tinting is one of the first things i will be doing. 50% tint is the legal limit in my state but i really want to go 35%, the couple shops that i am talking to who would do the install have both warned me that i will get pulled over if i go 35%. Don't want the ticket but not sure i want to gamble either so i might be stuck at 50%

i think 70% would be pointless.. i know in virginia 50% front windows and 35% the rest of the windows is legal it'll stop some uv rays if you get high quality tint .. i have 30% all the way around and not bothered

Maybe my philosophy is a little different..but If your are going to do anything illegal, you might as go all the way. I had 50s before..it was too light for me..and I always had been pulled over. I have only been pulled over once for speeding recently and he gave me a tint ticket because he is the same cop who pulls me over everytime I am in a certain town. Most of the time I just roll the windows down if I see a cop in my area..but if you don't do anything stupid like have loud music on or rev your engine..you will be alright. Obnoxious lights like attract police too ..like mine..but who cares..its 100 bucks a ticket!

and if you have nothing wrong with your eyes, stop trying to cop a "get out of jail free card". He's not being a douche bag, he's abiding by the law.

If tint is illegal, any tint on your front windows will get you a ticket

70 % tint is like no tint at all. Might as well fishbowl it or keep paying them tickets..I'm in NYC and get pulled over so much for tints that a new ticket would cancel out the other. You could use www.smarttint.com but when activated, u can't see out.

They pull you over for 35% tinted windows and they don't give you shi!t about your license plate cover?? I got a 'talking to' by a cop in south Jersey last month when I was stopped at a rest area about my plate covers.

Not much you can do if front window tint is illegal in NJ, except get a note from the Doctor. You'll probably need to fill out paper work from the RMV.

If the sun really does bother you keep pushing your Doc. If he doesn't seriously address your concern, change doctors. I'm not telling you to skirt the law but hypersensitivity to sun is a real concern.

I have 35% all around on my car ('cept windshield), and in all honesty it's not that dark. The only reason I did it that way was because I wanted all the windows to be the same. I had to the convince the technician not to put 20% on the three rear windows.

A previous car I owned had 5% tint ... wicked dark! I grew out of that phase many years ago though.

I say you need to go doctor shoppin.... the way they give out pain prescriptions you should be able to find a skin doc to write you a note... look at reviews for skin docs you'll find something. Or just find a dirty doc e-z.

Ok thanks for the input guys. I saw 50% today and it looks good with a black interior. Not too dark to get stopped and light enough so cops can see me.

I want to thank tigersharkdude's meme (For helping me type "tint" instead of "tints" today and wasting another 15 inches on my laptop screen of his dumb asses meme post) and kruegs (tigersharkdude's boy for enforcing the meme).

the rest happy modding

If you are going to use automotive terms incorrectly on an auto forum, be prepared to be corrected.

So, you think because "cops can see me" that that means it is legal? WRONG! If the law in your state is that you can not have any tint on your front windows, and you DO have tint on them, that means that you are doing something illegal and you are "ok" with getting a ticket .

No... I am not thinking that just because "cops can see me" that means it is legal.
When I meant "just enough for cops to see me" I mean just enough for them to spot me and think I have no tint but actually have. I know front tint is illegal in Jersey. I've been stopped for 35%. Hey if I'm stopped for 50% then off to 70%. I saw 70% in the Audi forums and it looks clean.

I have had 50% on my front windows before, it's still good heat and UV reduction. If you have 5% on your rears it will make the fronts seem dark no matter what.

I had 5% on my rears and 50% on the front in my last car, it was legal yet kept getting pulled over. Cops don't like they can't see in the back at all. I have 35% all around on the max and it's just dark enough to keep the heat out and no problems.

So it's best to keep the rears 5% and leave the front alone? In Jersey any tint at the rears are allowed any % BTW.

Id just throw 50% up front like I said on FB 70% is hard to find. Like I said though email SOGS to see if they could do 70% up front for you

Bling, I have 35% all around (but not on the windshield). No issues with the law after almost a year. Odd that you get hassled.

But maybe a white car with black roof doesn't stick out as much?

The 35 is not that dark as compared to the 15 or 5 that I wanted.

Anything less than 35 would be almost the same as factory, IMO.

I used to live in Edison and got pulled over in my last car with 35%. I'm in North Jerey now and visit Edison and Metuchen often and never get hassled. I attached pix of 50% w/ the black interior. I have the premium so if I had to I could always open the sun shade for the dual roof and let more light it. These pix were taken 6pm when the sun was going down

Yeah I've had my maxima with limo tint all around for about 7 month now and thankfully no problems so far. I think it depends on the area and how you drive

Yup what PSU09MAXIMA said. I use Zaino. I love it. Ghozt on here uses it also and his Radiant Silver in pics are really really shiny. Once I get coils on, I'm going to install my 20's again, Zaino treatment my Max, and post pics! So stayed tuned!

@nerv81 nice Max and thanks for the pics man. I'm going 50%. I want some type of tint cause no tint in summer sucks.

@MaximaGuido09c I drive normally. Cops here in my area just love to pick on modded cars. If they don't find something, they will find another way to give you a ticket. I've read on other forums that cops were asked to do specific things in order to make money for the town. Now that I have no tint at the front, cops can see my middle finger better and they're not getting another cent from me to help renovate their facility...

I just watched youtube videos how to clay bar, polish, and wax. That's how I learned. Plus I remember Ghozt on FB saying the more you apply, the shiner it gets. Also note that my friend with an HD camera took my sig pic and the sun was setting during summer.

Here's my reflection from Zaino. Has a lot of layers of Z-6 already. I've seen Zaino on a black Max and it's like looking at glass

everyone in nyc that drives a 7th gen has 35%-20% mostly 20%..
If you dont want to get pulled over but want a nice look put 20% rear windshield with 50% everything else or do 35% rear windshield with 50% everything else..my opinion
