ULTIMATE Detail on my Max today

Whats up guys. I was talking to one of the guys at the dealership I work about the best ways to detail a car and he gave me a lot of tips and pointers. Now I know you guys have figured it all out when it comes to detailing your Max's, and its all about preference, but I think you guys wanna hear this. He told me there is 4 steps to detailing: Clay, buff, polish, and wax. Now everybody cant do this detail because it requires a buffer but I would advise you to purchase it, a buffing pad, and a polishing pad, because they are worth every penny. Now this takes some time (took me 2 hours) but Here are the steps:

1. Wash the car (I would just take it to a car wash and run it through just to get it clean)

2. Clay it really good. You can use window cleaner as lubricate it doesn't matter.

3. Buff it. Buffing gets out any scratches on your car. Now everybody can't use a buffer and it takes practice so if you don't know how practice first because you could burn the paint off your car (bad news). Buffing requires a white buffing pad and extra cut compound. I like to buff at 1600 rpm. Go around the whole car taking your time doing an area at a time.

4. I would rewash it due to the pad getting it dirty again

5. Polish it. Black polish is the best IMO but you can use whatever you like. Do the same as step 3 for polishing doing an are at a time and polish at low speeds (I prefer 1000 rpm). Feel the areas you polish and you should already tell its super smooth!

6. Last step is wax. We all know how to do this lol. Let it sit for about 10 min. then remove.

Like I said everybody can't use a buffer but for those who can I thought this would be helpful. He told me a detail like this should be done once a year because caking on products isn't good. Here are some pics:

looks great! one small tip about buffing for the others is if you spend the time to tape up your black/rubber trim it will save you a lot of time later cleaning up the polish that gets flung around by the spinning buffer
