Just had four new mxm4's installed on my 09 Max yesterday. I am noticing a low pitched hum which starts around 40 mph. I don't have a clue what it could be. Anyone have any suggestions? Those Michelin's shouldn't be making that hum should they? I was wondering if it could be a wheel bearing or something.

 

I have the same tires and they are very quiet. For me a hum like that turned out to be my front wheel bearing. It was replaced under warranty thankfully.

 

I had a front wheel bearing replaced under warranty last fall as well.

 

Thanks guys. Looks like I will be visiting the dealer tomorrow. How many miles did you guys have on your cars? I have a little over 70K.

 

I probably had about 38K at the time my wheel bearing went out.

 

UPDATE - Took my Max to the dealer yesterday and sure enough, it turned out to be BOTH front wheel bearings. They replaced them both. Since my car has a little over 70K, I'm glad I had the extended warranty. The cost was $482. I only had to pay $50. With the 4 new tires and new front wheel bearings, it drives like new again.
