I think what's making the install hard for people is the fitment, without the pre-fit and slight sanding for the flush fitment it won't be sitting flush against the car, and will be pulling away basically. I didn't use the promoter either. Test fitting along with some masking tape to outline the location for final install helped for me. I found I had to remove some tape from the lip to sand for a better fit. Also any wax on the vehicle contact surface will indeed cause the tape/lip to not adhere. Cleanliness is key.

Update:

I was looking at my side panels tonight, and it turns out that the 3m tape actually separated from the side skirts. It wouldn't even re apply anymore. Now this sucks, as i have to find a way to make this work. The body shop said they can use Seam Sealer, but something tells me it will look like **** and it probably will not stick to the polyurethane.
